Thanks for the message letting me know about this - family commitments really have taken me "out of the loop" for the last few months! I'd be interested, definitely but don't know at the moment whether I'd be able to make it or not. I'd love to assemble and take my Raiders but I only have a 5 FAP f...

Where's the poll option for people who play to win but insist that they just play for fun, and cry when they get home if they didn't come first? That would describe me, all except for the crying at home because I don't tend to fail to win  J/K, in all seriousness I play the games very ...

Greg is clearly correct, it is still a weapon. Just because it is reloading or fired its load or taken a crit, it still counts as a weapon. But yes I would probably support changing the CBD rules to read one usable weapon system. Although, that could cause problems if you put a ship on CBD and all ...

Sorry for the lack of communications - I'm still up in the air as to whether I'm free to come or not. It's about 50-50 but I hope to be there. Completing on a house the Friday after and a baby on the way are leaving me just a little bit busy... :)

Barring moving house or my baby being born two months early I'll be there! (take that as confirmation for now as I won't be able to give any notice if my girlfriend goes into labour early!!!)

Kenny won this one fair and square although I'd love another game! My report is coming and will include the photos - sorry for the delay so far. I agree that taking out the pair of Gunships would have been the better option but at that stage it would have been a gamble and I could well have been lef...

Turn 2 had all of the Vorlon fleet and most of the ISA fleet arrive. The Heavy Cruiser and a pair of White Star Gunships arrived with the forces on the left flank (amongst the Vorlon side) and the White Star Carrer came on behind the Light Cruiser but chased by a newly arrived Destroyer. The White S...

With a few dust clouds and a planet on the board we set up with a Light Cruiser facing the Tara'Lin but both safely out of line of sight. In the first turn a could of Transports, most of the Vorlon fighters and a Frigate turned up, as did an Enforcer, a Blue Star and a White Star. The Enforcer took ...

is that Burgers or Triggys rule?
That's my rule system :D

I'll be there too assuming I'm not moving house that weekend! I'll have to confirm closer to the time but it sounds excellent coming down and seeing you all again.

Well....they'll work out exactly the same (24AD) if every single one of your original 14 shots fail to penetrate the target's hull. Mind you, missing with every single shot classes as a "That's Not Gone Well" moment, which you don't really want to be contemplating*. And even then it's only the same...

Using fighters to claim "sectors" in Space Superiority. Forcing a game of Annihilation into stalemate because your opponent can't physically get into range and arc of one of your fighter flights. Making odd-shaped bases for your fighters (extreme example would be a table-sized base with some holes f...

You could still whore out on patrol PL choices though. If you're going to do that then you may as well make the scores even more granular and from the other side of things, if you've taken out all of the limitations regarding what PL a battle is then frankly you may as well allow ships to have "cost...

I like the PL system for what it is and how it works. Its just not granular enough. Its like only having 5 sizes of shoes. It also doesn't help when the break down favors small ships. I've NEVER liked that about ACtA. I LOVE playing with big ships, anything Battle and up is more fun. But I don't th...

My favourite is the system where beams hit on 3+ and re-roll for more hits on 5+. This tones down the random element of beams while not eliminating it completely. You can still get a flat miss or a runaway expansion, it's just less likely, and the expansion is likely not to run away quite so far. A...
