For my Bugs I use plastic tubs with a layer of that stuffing material they use for plush toys and cheap pillows. Can't remember what it's called, but you can find the stuff in craft stores. The legs sink right into the stuffing and hold the figures pretty secure while driving around.

Galatea's on the right track - a lot depends on what kind of opponents you're facing. Hoppers are great for killing Exosuits and other hard targets (Marauders, CHAS, etc.). Acid Ripplers can tear up PAMI, while basic Ripplers do the same to LAMI. Kamikazes are great for dealing with the air threat, ...

I'd have to say C) Moderate for our area. One buddy of mine has played a few times, but hasn't bought any models yet (we use my PLA and USMC). Two other friends I demo'd for are now buying EFTF and (against my advice) PLA. :) Eventually I'm hoping to sell my friends my PLA and USMC figs, then invest...

I think you're missing the point about why people aren't happy with the current points-vs.-capability ratio of the PLA. It isn't because you can't fight the PLA like the USMC...it's because you can't fight the PLA like the PLA. IRL, Everyone accepts that the PLA has lower quality gear than their wes...

A good place to get info on anything for the PLA is:

www.sinodefence.com

That site has everything - armor, aircraft, ships, including some ATGMs that I'd LOVE to see the PLA get. They need something better to kill Challengers and Abrams with.

I'm waiting to see the stats for the Zulquifar. If it has similar stats to the Type 99 AND a lower cost....then it'll be pitchfork-and-torches time :x

Speaking of which, any chance we'll get a sneak preview of the cards for the next wave?

First you say, "surely air units always enter from 'the air'", then in the last part of your post you talk about Hoppers being able to Hover attack from the Nest. Maybe we're getting confused on terminology. When I talk about Air units, I refer to anything that has flight speeds and can operate in t...

Check out page 3 of the Rulemasters forum - "TMG Bug Nest & Reserves question." 1. The Nest is treated just like a table edge from which your reserves could enter - thus Hoppers could make a hover attack straight out of the Nest, just like they could from one of their table edges. 2. If you have Air...

Would have to work on that for the Arachnids though - Carrion bugs are considered "Command Assets", while all types of tunnel entrances and tunneling markers are labled "Tunnel Assets". At PL3, even Endless Tide is listed as a "Command Asset". Arachnid armies could be bankrupted in a hurry! :(

That's true - if an Overseer is killed, the rest of the army won't spaz out if either a Brain or another Overseer is present. Although it doesn't say so, I would imagine a Queen being present would do the trick as well.

What about having the Tankers start with their own markers, link up while underground, and then move both markers together as a swarm - could that work?

If so, could the same tactic be applied to other Arachnid units, such as two units of Warriors linking up underground and moving together?

Don't feel bad - some of us have been playing quite awhile, and we still don't get everything right. Taking your questions in order: 1. As a general rule, no. The Pathfinders are an exception to this - any Pathfinder squad with a Neodog may react normally to tunnel markers. 2. The way our group has ...

I'd recommend putting the Overseers on a wider base. Until I put mine on a CD, it would tip over if you looked at it funny - always with wings and/or legs popping off and having to be re-assembled. :x

According to the Arachnid Army book, an enemy figure 'captured' by the Control Bug comes under command of the Arachnid player as is at the time of capture - all weapons and armor the captured figure has now come under Arachnid control. I don't see why this would be any different for a previously cap...
