Re: The Great Traveller Clean-Up!
Group tasks related to skills in the SKILLs chapter. There's a lot of information floating around in other places that should be grouped under skills. It was recently pointed out that locks and security are in page 144 of the core book, in spacecraft operations. In reality, something as generic as t...

Re: Deckplans to adventure type ships.
I know GURPS issued a few 25mm sized deck plans. 100 ton scout 200 ton free trader 200 ton far trader 400 ton SSB and 50 ton modular cutter. There might be more but I could be wrong. Another way (but kinda crappy) is to take the pdf deck plans, scale them up on your computer, then print them out on...

Re: Traveller With & Without Miniatures
those weren't kids I was talking about...it was guys in their 30s-50s. Guys who played "classic" D&D. The kids may have driven the minis, but the adults have slowly become handicapped by it

Re: The Coffee Maker
Is the story true that back in the day, for some navies, diesel and fresh water was stored in the same tanks (being immiscible), contributing to said reputation of bad tasting coffee? I spent some time on Google to try discovering if this is true or not but didn't find anything... The only thing I ...

I can tell you firsthand that Navy coffee is the worst.
As a side note, I've also seen a guy go through a liter and a half of that crap on a single watch.

Re: Traveller With & Without Miniatures
I used to play old school with no figs and just descriptions of the combat. These days though, since the advent of 3.0/3.5, a lot of players I find expect to use them. They have a very hard time picturing the setting without a map and minis. So, we wind up using them. life in the modern times.

CSC needs to be updated. Trade Codes for the entire Spinward Marches need to be audited by the core rule assumptions. I found hundreds of missing trade codes via a simple spreadsheet, using the UPPs of the various systems. I've posted the correct trade codes for the spinward marches in a thread here...

Stun batons got a major nerf between the two books as well. I wish mongoose would spend a little more time playing and using the equipment they write up.

Its all about fantasy and adventure, which more often than not involve conflict. My PCs ship and crew can make loads of money just trading, but that's hardly fun.

Re: High guard rules: Merchants and auxilliaries
I agree that the rules are not well suited for the creation of civilian ships. If you look at modern warships today you see some big differences. Compare a 100,000 ton carrier with a crew of 6,000 to a 100,000 VLCC (i.e. oil tanker) with a crew of about 60. Even taking away the roughly 4,000 flight...

Slow Drugs: It says that a person on Slow Drugs gains 4 ticks every round instead of two. I must have missed the part in the combat rules where it says that anybody gains two ticks per round?
