The fact that the Scoundrel piracy system although appearing to be well written is full of major bugs that have forced me to use it as a basis for my own version.
What issues are you having with it?

The major change from that-which-was-known-as-XP to Troubleshooters is the use of old-style Treason Points instead of treason codes; the screen will reflect this. The rest of the rules - skills, specialties, perversity, weapon damage, random screwjob tables etc are the same.

It needs the RQ2 corebook - it's not standalone. Lord High Munchkin - Deus Vult is as accurate as a game with monster-hunting assassin-priests blowing up demonic cults with alchemical weapons should be, in that we assume that the Order more-or-less cancels out the effects of the supernatural weirdne...

Allen's covered all the major elements of High Programmer, I think. It would be easy enough to switch to a diceless system (it's already borrowing plenty from Amber and Nobilis) - just have the High Programmers spend Access instead of rolling dice when there's a contest. You'd need to tweak a few th...

Yeah - they basically stride along, being mighty cat lords of the galaxy and confusing stupid monkey rpg writers with their timekeeping, and then suddenly they fall off the arthritis cliff and are eaten by their own kids.

*checks* There is a screw-up in my maths. Firstly, ignore the note on page 8 - it's a leftover from the Classic Traveller rules. Aslan aging and terms should be computed in Imperial years for sanity's sake. Four year terms, characters start at age 14 imperial. Secondly, aging should begin at age 38 ...

The 3d6 x Diameter is the initial range between the pirate vessel and the target, not the pirate vessel and the planet. The time to get to the jump limit or surface depends on the initial location of the pirate - basically, the rules assume that the pirate's lurking around in orbit, and then sights ...

The briefing cube data is in the article - it's just not in handout form. Cut and paste the section starting with 'Operation MATTERHORN - Whetstone' up to 'Briefing Cube Ends' and give that to the players to ignore. As for the map - I wasn't able to get one ready in time for the S&P deadline, unfort...

One rule I experimented with during an early draft: Use the opponent's statistic as the total Effect needed to get past. So, if you're trying to bluff past a doorman, you need to keep rolling, say, Social Standing + Deception until your total Effect exceeds the doorman's Intelligence. You've got thr...

The errata is correct - I posted more text than was necessary because at the time I didn't know how much was missing. 90% of the text I posted is in the book; the only missing bit was the very start of the Pax Rulin writeup.

Even in Paranoia XP, proof of mutation possession is M3T treason - it was _incontrovertible_ proof that resulted in instant termination. If you want, pencil in 'incontrovertible proof - 20 points' in the Treason tables. My own feeling is that going straight to Termination makes Mutant Powers and Sec...

From my (very preliminary) notes for the adventure: The more we use the Ancients, the less awesome they become. We keep the number of ancient artifacts and bases showing up in other books to a minimum. It’s much, much too easy to use Ancient tech as a MacGuffin in plots (I’ve done it myself), but An...
