Re: New Professions,skills and Backgrounds

Not sure if this has been discussed earlier in the thread but one approach would be to adjust the difficulty levels for each task. As knowledge / tools develop, some tasks become easier / more routine to do than previously and this could be reflected in the GM either requiring a skill roll or adjust...

Re: The Spider God's Bride - Re-write DONE, FINISHED!

Just to check.... if I purchase the PDF now from Drivethru will I automatically be entitled to the revised PDF when it becomes available? Presume the answer is yes but I wanted to make sure.

Re: Hobbits and Halflings

Don't take such charts literally. Halfiling's size is exactly half of human size, which sounds about right. Size range of halflings is 4-9, so only tallest are as big as small humans, because 8 is human minimum size. Even if we take your chart literally, then human whose size is 7 would have medica...

There are a few resources for other games that might be useful like GURPS Arabian Nights.

Re: Hobbits and Halflings

I would have thought that a halfling would have been short and stout, or at least tubby. A weight of 16kg seems awfully low to me. Perhaps Midnight halflings are not the same as Tolkeiny ones. I would agree that Tolkien's hobbits were well built and the Midnight version appear to be a bit slim (but...

Re: Hobbits and Halflings

You are right... it does show up how "fantastical" that d20 setting is. An adult short hobbit/haefling/halfling is going to be quite robust, although short. 50 kg isn't unreasonable as the necessary skeletons are not really reducible beyond a certain point, and organs have a practical weight that t...

Hobbits and Halflings

Hi all Currently revisiting my MRQ2 conversion for the d20 Midnight setting and once again I am pondering the SIZ characteristic for humanoids and for hobbits or halflings in particular. In Monsters of Legend and RQ6 the average SIZ for halflings is quite high (7 to 8 ) and doesn't match the Midnigh...

Re: The Spider God's Bride - Adv: Daughters of Rhama

I'm hoping so Prime_Evil and thanks. I can tell you that I will be working on a lot more Legend books after this. I did work on Samurai and Gladiators of Legend for example. After SGB I'd like to turn my attention back to SGB 2 and see what I can do with that. This will be a direct conversion from ...

Re: New Professions,skills and Backgrounds

A few years ago I worked out some design guidelines for Cultures and Professions using MRQ2. They may be of some use in Legend.

Re: RuneQuest II Vikings: Used with Legend?

My understanding is that both books are identical. I own the old MRQ2 book. If the PDF is a lot cheaper than the Legend one I would go for it. I would buy the Legend book as a physical book only to take advantage of the digest format which is nifty.

Availabilty of GURPs Conan and d20 books

Hi Matt

With the news that SJ Games have a licence to release pdfs of old Gurps Conan books. Any chance that Mongoose could strike a deal for the d20 books too?

Re: Legend still seems to be doing well....

Update on 'missing' books! Baileoisin: This was being discussed last week. The thing is, it really needs a Slaine book to work, for obvious reasons. However, the new Legend format makes a new Slaine RPG relatively attractive for us to do. Not in the full colour/Clint Langley style I wanted for a ha...

Re: Arms of Legend eBook PDF Available

I'm keen to buy this in print and PDF even though I have the MRQ2 version because of the extensive errata. Could someone who has got it confirm that the errata has been correctly incorporated?

Thanks,

Legend and Cthulhu Dark Ages

Anyone used MRQ2 / Legend to run Cthulhu Dark Ages scenarios? I'm thinking of trying one of the Viking adventures from the Chaosium monograph for a session next week. MRQ2 Vikings should help also. I guess it should be pretty easy to convert skills / combat and use the existing CoC magic system and ...

Re: HELP! Size and Mass

I agree with the previous posts about the abstract nature of SIZ and its relationship to mass. I think what helps is to break the relationship up into three domains. Domain 1: Small objects. Under the Brawn skill (Legend p. 47) we are told that SIZ equates to a mass of 3.5 kg. (As an interesting asi...

The core Wraith Recon book. Also search the forums as I'm sure the text on traps was discussed previously and therefore may be available for free.

There are a couple of pages on physical traps in Wraith Recon for MRQ2 that should be easy to port over to Legend.

Re: No Spirit Magic in Legend?

LOL. I was actually thinking of buying the Legend book in the hope that Mongoose was starting over with a new focus on quality etc. However they seem to have fallen into old habits quickly. I'll not be jumping on this wagon for a while in case the wheels fall off.

I agree Mongoose has a Historical bad reputation with other products. On forums where MRQ2 is discussed, it's a VERY common question from those considering buying it asking about the production quality, errors, consistency etc... Honestly I think MRQ2 is a far better product than MRQ1 and well wort...

As the makers of Austrian wine will testify, a bad reputation is difficult to overcome. Mongoose has produced some disappointing products in recent years including various MRQ2 books with far too much errata, generally dull internal layout, and maps that suck. Mongoose books often cost a lot more th...
