list of atmospheric taints?

Has anyone compiled or published a list of ideas for atmospheric taints? I have a short list from GT: First In, but it'd be nice to have something like "101 Atmospheric Taints" just to make sure I keep things fresh and different.

Re: How do you handle surgery?

I'm trying to imagine a situation where a medic is trying to revive someone, and another medic is standing near saying, "I'll give it a try if you can't resuscitate her." The second medic should be assisting, not waiting for a turn.

Re: How do you handle surgery?

If something changes in the situation, a new approach, new tools available, new help, etc, then it might make sense to make another go of it. But otherwise, the surgery attempt should mean you've done all you can for the patient.

Re: Clement Sector Queries

Quick question can you point me towards whatever book or section that explains the " PBG " bit listed within the Sub-sector table header please? PBG is from a prev version of Traveller, and it means P opulation Mod, (asteroid) B elts, G as Giants. The latter two are number of each, and the first nu...

Re: World and Universe creation Mongoose vs. T5

Obviously I like the MgT rules and procedures, though I noticed via the Traveller Map that the "Ga" trade designation is a little different for T5. Siz 6-8, Atm 5,6,8, Hyd 5-7 In terms of "Garden" meaning "a lot like Earth" I like their parameters a little better than what's in MgT. I don't have any...

Re: Alternative settings

What kinds of star maps and world generation should it have for 3rd-Imperium-less sci-fi settings? I haven't been using any 3rd Imperium stuff in most of my sci-fi games. Is there any kind of Empire at all in your games? Do you swap out Social Class for something like "charisma" or "personality" or...

Yes. This. Total agreement.

I actually prefer the "printer friendly" version for many of the reasons stated above. In my extraordinarily humble opinion, the color version could stand to be just a bit more subtle.

IIRC Getting the playtest core book beta provides access to the high guard beta as well? Y/N?

Re: Boon and Bane terminology

I think if you went down a very bad path, you could make the argument about a whole lot of existing terms in the game not sounding "sci fi". Like shouldn't "Strength" be "Muscle Fiber Density" or something technical? I'd say take a little time to adjust to boon and bane and they'll start to sound pe...

Seriously, everything in the preview post says good things about this new ed. Looking forward to checking it out.

Re: Automated Translators?

If translation software is readily available, I think it'd be more likely that individual 3I planets would develop their own particular dialects, and finding software might occasionally be difficult, or expensive, for a less-traveled world.

Maybe 1 attack in 6 hits the head for no protection, but for grenades and the like I'd reduce armor effectiveness.

I would think, as hot as ships are compared to everything around them, that passive sensors would be pretty effective.

Re: Dark Matter scyfy series

Seems pretty good so far. I like the actors and the story.

The opening titles look like computer graphics from 1993. I dunno why they didn't just go with something simpler.

But hey, if the low budget helps it stay on the air, I'm okay with that.

Re: The Expanse

Hmm, you could probably play it pretty easily right out of the box, with a few tiny tweaks. The setting assumes a hyper efficient reaction drive, which seems to never run out of fuel. To that end you could just use maneuver drives, but I might make them bigger since ships dont' have jump drives. May...
