They look amazing. I'm particularly impressed with the ship cake.

Re: Would it be a war-crime?

Imagine the "Love Boat" being disguised to look like a Military Destroyer. There is a real life example of something like this. As the Soviet Union was breaking up, someone bought a surplus Soviet Navy icebreaker, and converted it into a cruise ship for Antarctica cruises. Even if the guns were rem...

Re: The Harrier’s armory

The mention of swords and Battle Dress in the same paragraph inspires an idea for a piece of equipment: a suit of powered armor that emphasizes the strength amplification instead of the armor -- kind of the inverse of Combat Armor, which is really tough armor but no strength amplification. So how ab...

Re: Rogue 'planet' discovered

This article says that it's 12.7 times the mass of Jupiter and 1.2 times diameter of Jupiter. With 1.2 times the diameter, it is 1.7 times the volume of Jupiter, so it is around 7.3 times the density of Jupiter.

Re: Tell me what you want.

One thing that would be good to see in official print would be a set of guidelines for "troupe style" adventuring. That is probably the best way to make larger ships like the Leviathan or Azhanti High Lightning manageable settings for adventurers. Troupe style is also great for mercenary adventures....

Re: Can they legally do this?

Long ago, I was in Austria with some friends, and a couple of the friends had their 15 year old son with them. We were at a restaurant, and the fifteen-year-old said to the waiter, "I'm 15. Am I old enough to drink here?" The waiter replied, "Because you already told me your age, I can't serve you, ...

Thanks for the pointer. I'll have to add them to my wish-list (which is really my "wish I had time to read all the books I have already" list).

Re: How unprofessional is it?

You can put it into a game theory matrix if the champion and the newbie are matched: Champion is honorable, newbie is sensible: Champion says, "I don't want to kill you in the ring. See you when you have a worthy record?" Newbie replies, "I'll be there sooner than you expect. Can you get the organiz...

Re: What would the army do?

Mercenaries would do pretty much exactly what their contract allowed. If the contract included a clause that allowed the unit, or individuals, to withdraw their services if they were asked to participate in atrocities, they might, particularly if the bulk of their contracted payment had cleared, or ...

If Hitler had been killed before initiating Operation Barbarossa, and his successors had persuaded Japan to delay waking the sleeping giant, the Axis may have had more of a chance.

First, they're would be a cover up. Eventually, a whistleblower would take the story public. Then politicians would set up a commission of inquiry. It would find that proper procedures were not followed: - Verbal orders should have been repeated back to confirm that they were heard correctly. - Orde...

Re: Combat Arm - Overpowered?

A limb that is vastly stronger than the body it is attached to would need safety features that prevent it from hurting the rest of the body. For example, suppose the arm is strong enough to lift a two ton ground car. In the absence of a safety override, an attempt to do such a lift might apply two t...

Re: Optima substitute for Google Drive documents

I found another nice Optima substitute that seems to be freely available (but still not available on Google Drive): Optane. It's available from a variety of sources, but this one seems to be the closest thing to official: Optane Font - copyfonts.com . The original owner appears to be out of business...

Laws work however the society that makes them decides that they should work. In a society that exists within a game world, they work however the game master decides they work.

Re: Small drones / Unmanned aerial vehicles

Going by GURPS Traveller , I find that contragravity lift becomes available at GTL8, which is also TTL8. It improves at GTL9, which is also TTL9. But that only provides lift; you still need fans for thrust. Contragravity TL8: weight is 20 pounds plus 1 pound per 1000 pounds of lift; cost is Cr2500 p...

Re: Small drones / Unmanned aerial vehicles

The drone I described is surprisingly quiet even at full speed. It's designed as a camera platform that is stable enough to take pixel clear video, so vibration is necessarily minimized -- and any energy that goes into noise is energy that isn't going into lift and propulsion. It's not going to be s...

Re: What to do

Even if the characters are rich, there are adventures to be found. What if pirates kidnap the richest character's financial manager, who is the only person who knows the password to a critical financial account? There's a war brewing and the noble's overlord needs money from the manager's account to...
