Re: How close are orbital starports?

A well maintained starship with a well trained and competent crew should be able to fall out of the rabbit hole more or less in one hundred and sixty eight hours, exactly where the astrogator had plotted.

Re: Ship Design Philosophy

Spaceships: Bridges to Nowhere Now that spaceship bridges are capped at a default sixty tonnes for circa two kay tonnes and upwards, you have the discrepancy that at two kay tonnes, a bridge costs you ten megaschmuckers, and one for a hundred kay tonne spaceship costs a cool half a gigaschmuckers. ...

Maybe as a form of stealth movement.

No stray neutrons giving away the location of a fusion reactor.

Generally speaking, astronomical information should be pretty precise in the immediate interstellar neighbourhood.

Spaceships: Power Plants and Alchemy

So, we got a tank full of hydrogen, and another one of carbon.

Process them simultaneously through a variant fuel processor, we should have a synthetic hydrocarbon admixture, suitable for the onboard chemical plant.

Re: Solomani Confederation (Military)

Death Star is cool.

Star Destroyer is cool.

Starkiller Base and Luke Starkiller aren't; it almost feels like Disney was trolling us.

Re: How close are orbital starports?

Either to cheap to employ an astogator, or someone who enjoys flying by the seat of his pants.

You could try projecting one parsec over, but deliberately driving through a closer gravity well.

Re: Ship Design Philosophy

Primitive and advanced options seem to imply this.

Still, it's rather vague.

Re: Solomani Confederation (Military)

The Resurgent-class Battlecruiser, also known as Resurgent-class Star Destroyer was an iconic model of battlecruiser of the Star Destroyer line built by Kuat-Entralla Engineering and used by the First Order Navy during its conquest of the Unknown Regions sometime after the signing of the Galactic C...

Re: Ship Design Philosophy

Thank you.

But Mongoose doesn't appear to cap distance from a gravitational source for manoeuvre drives, which may have been the element missing in Tee Five.

Re: Low tech ships - Need help

Chemical plants use petrochemical or synthetic fuels. Chemical plant fuel can not be skimmed from gas giants or taken from water sources and can not be used by rocket motors.

Mongoose First

Apparently, left on the cutting room floor for Mongoose Second.

Only with reaction drives, gravitic drives do not work in jumpspace - see T5.

Re: Solomani Confederation (Military)

If I interpret the material correctly, whether canon or legendary, really heavy armoured cruisers and battleships.

And then it becomes inflationary, sort of the Death Star syndrome.

Re: How close are orbital starports?

I heard of an elderly woman who sold her house, and bought a life time supply of cruise ship tickets.

Our equivalent would be Traveller Aid Society members who get a High Passage ticket every two months, and use of facilities at probably a reasonable cost.

I want to use them as light, short range anti ship weapons.

I'd estimate power usage at around three and a half points per gun.

Re: Solomani Confederation (Military)

I saw two possible interpretations here, equally valid. The first one would be literal, since Empire Star Destroyers are capital ships built as pure intimidation, fire power, armour and endurance, and that would place them neatly above hundred kay tonnes, also fits in with the cruiser gap. The secon...
