Re: Passenger Ship logistics

Basically rehashing an old issue. Rules have a tendency to be ambiguous, with multiple possible interpretations; pick one and stick with it. As regards to life support, I get the impression nuclear submarines have cheaper solutions than those presented in Traveller, and whereas with Stables and Cock...

It's why I commented, ye, eons ago, that this will end up with computer assisted aids.

And also, old enough spaceships are going to have variant deckplans even if they were mass produced.

On the other hand, the crew has a complete control and oversight over their food source.

Four tonnes is a yardstick, and metaphorically represented.

Meta four tonnes distributed around the spaceship.

As regards to the luggage, you can always squeeze the suitcases beneath the bed.

Re: WW1

I first came across the concept when reading Triplanetary, Smith's idea was the cone, which allowed a rather heavy concentration of fire power at one point. Some later writer evolved it to something like a stepped ladder, which unlike the Honorverse wall advanced rather than tried to parallel. I loo...

Re: Spacecraft Operations - Running Costs

1. Annual maintenance should be professionally done, in a well equipped garage; you might want to be sure that the operator owes you a couple of favours. 2. I tend to schlep along as much luggage as the airline allows me to get away with, which up to now has included a personal computer and a lot of...

Re: Spacecraft Operations - Running Costs

If you look hard enough, you can probably identify some loopholes, besides cutting corners and operating on marginal performance.

One thing you should never skip on is annual maintenance, since it costs peanuts.
