Re: Legend Printed Release Schedule

I myself rarely buy printed books (generally only the new game line core books from White Wolf / Onyx Path, but that's mostly tradition); I value the PDF's utility (searchable, printable multiple times and in a completely re-arranged fashion, etc.) much more than a printed book's beauty. I am very m...

Re: Background Culture

We aren't talking about general terms but game terms that have an effect from a systemic point of view. Check what bonuses Nomad and Primitive grant and which professions they allow; then choose accordingly.

Re: Adventure Design for Legend

@ pachristian It is generally good advice. However, building up this storyline may take many gaming sessions, which may not be available for everyone. Second, the "dire curse" seems to be taking effect no matter what the players do, which I think is not fair; they seemingly have control over whether...

Re: Adventure Design for Legend

Hmmmm.....so rather than having a standard target of three successes, have a variable number that reflects the difficulty of the task? That's similar to what I suggested earlier, but you've just turned it into an generic mechanic for extended tasks - possibly more elegant than the one provided in A...

Re: Adventure Design for Legend

Getting back to the main topic of this thread, not only should pencil in two or three possible ways to resolve each challenge, but you should encourage the use of multiple skills to overcome the challenge. Always remember that Legend is a skill-based game rather than a class-based game. Don't ask p...

Re: Adventure Design for Legend

The first of these is Legend (and other d100 games) tend to encourage a less structured style of play than d20 games. I don't think that this claim is too controversial - one complaint often made about d20 games is that session prep can be a burden and that running improvised freeform encounters ca...

Re: Adventure Design for Legend

That's a trap that many d20 adventures fall into when designing skill challenges. Often the author specifies a single skill that can be used to resolve a challenge and that is the only solution possible. The d20 ruleset is highly structured and the degree of freedom available to both GM and players...

Re: Adventure Design for Legend

I am very much looking forward to the opinion of veteran GMs of Legend; the main rulebook, unfortunately, doesn't provide much useful information on how to actually play the game.

Re: Flip the Digits...

I don't see how it could be game-breaking. It is of less utility than Second Chance which forces re-rolls of any one roll, be it made by the character or someone against him, but it compensates by producing fixed results.

So, if you'd like to give your players some more tactical options, go for it.

Re: Samurai of Legend - In Print!

The interesting thing is that with Samurai of Legend and the Three Kingdoms Guide from Mystical Throne, we are close to having enough material to design a 'generic' oriental fantasy setting - anyone for Swords and Sorcery adventure in an eastern setting with influences from Chinese and Japanese cin...

Re: Non-humans

I have posted some ideas on making dwarves less typical, you can find them here. I intend to create similar posts concerning elves and halflings, too.
