Garr, I stay away from this part of the forums and I end up missing this kickstarter.
Looks so fun.

Re: Mercenary License

page 42 in the merc book kind of explains what a Merc ticket is. Not only is it the contract a merc signs. But it is also the legal licence to carry out that specific job and recognised by local authorities. (Though could not be recognised by another authority a parsec away aligned against the first...

Re: Jump Arrival Point

Not sure if this has been mentioned. Only read a couple posts so far. But I think the most effective way to pirate is to plant some pirates on the ship. It leaves the planet, jumps. The planted pirates get a week to plant to do some mischief to some of the ships systems they can access. Ship jumps i...

Re: Ship computer...

The designs in the book, are common bog standard designs. Many bog standard ships would go around highly populated areas, so the common designs show those ship types. Those on frontiers or backwaters would have weapons put in to turrets, and extra programs installed on to the computer. Remember, com...

Re: Ship computer...

Every successful dodge gives the enemy -2 to hit, which combines with the passive -1 from the evade program, right? Correct Assume my ship computer runs evade/2. Does this mean that the ship may make 2 dodges in addition to the three the pilot has available, or that the ship may perform 2 of the 3 ...

Re: Question about Thrust rating in High Guard

I think you are reading the Battleships thrust wrong. 6-11 If I am right, the 6 is its thrust. The second number is the technology level of the part. The Tug is really high, as it is meant to be able to push another ship. On its own, or with other tugs if the ship is much bigger then only one tug ca...

Re: Solomani Confederation (Military)

Noticed something dragoner spoke about. I absolutely agree with you on the misconception of the Age of Sail. Literally any ship coming in to harbour, commonly merchants, had to take on an allotment of mail, if the declared their destination. Most ports enforced that merchants must as well. And thus ...

Re: 20 diameter limit variant

I have read this a bit. I prefer that it is affected by gravity. But when you factor things in The Milky Ways gravity, that is proportionally easier to compensate for then a star or planet. Especially since even in the OTU, the known universe is just a tiny speck and the differences to be calculated...

Re: Ship Design Philosophy

I've done that on occasion to allow for 'sub ship' elements - for example, the limit of one spinal mount per ship (regardless of the percentage of the ship it occupies) means that a clamped on 'heavy gun mount' might be sensible for a super-heavy capital ship. Thats given me a couple ideas for my U...

Niva D433788-8 Is the world you'll be mustering out from. Can buy up to 2000 Credits worth of equipment and weapons, etc. As standard. (That is if you have that in credits. I've had fun with character creation before. Doh, no money.) Tech Level max being 8 for what you purchase. Other Benefit equipm...

Thank you Andrew. See that you are enjoying watching the game. :) Culture-pig we do have space for you. We would be happy for you to make your own character, especially since the ship is docked now so it makes it easier to get you in to the game. The current PC's are: Van Gustav Davit Deeks Onboard ...

Re: Ship Sizes

Thing with the Sheffield, their radar and communications were down for repairs at the time. So even the nearest ship, which they first thought they was the target, could not warn them. In the Falklands again, there was another sinking. Target was a Ship escorting a supply ship. The ship fired up its...

Re: Ship Design Philosophy

Thing you have to remember is that the Scout Service is a Civilian Institute and not a military one. And its main purpose is to deliver mail, explore and update charts. As well as operating in areas that have little access to higher jump range technologies, so it is easier for them to operate whilst...

Re: Ship Sizes

It does make me appreciate Star Trek, Red Dwarf, Farscape and Stargate allot more. Including Alien franchise. Realistic sizes that actually make sense, not only in producing the ships themselves. Think going bigger then that for me makes little sense or realism.# Edit: Almost forgot, Battlestar Gala...

Ship Sizes

http://www.chartgeek.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/spaceship-size-comparison-2013.jpg Thought this is great to see how big ships really are. Though, having watched the episode where the Ori come through the supergate, with Carter right beside it, the Ori ship there was massive. See if you can find ...

Re: Battledress coming to a warzone near you?

Doubt that is comparable to Battledress. Sounds more like combat armour with a computer weave in my honest opinion.

Edit: Plus, seeing that is making me remember an article around 1-2 years ago. So isn'y actually new news. Is supposed to look like a storm trooper what the US are developing.

Re: Basic Training

the second question. The others have explained the first question. Benefit roll is made when the character musters out or retires. You always get one roll per term you served plus bonus's for rank. Though getting that result on the survival table takes one away. For example, your character has serve...

Re: Basic Training

OK. Simply no. Lets say you have gone in to the Navy, you get the 6 service skills at level zero as basic training. If you spend another term with the Navy you no longer get any basic training. If however you leave the Navy, and say join a free trader crew as a term, you then get to pick one of the ...
