Re: A Legend City setting

Even a direct conversion of d20 / Pathfinder material is likely to have a very different 'feel' to the original version simply because Legend is a very different game system that favours a different style of play. Exactly, look at how Spider God's Bride translated over to Legend simply because many...

Re: Spells of Legend

Hmm, that Phase spell looks very nice... but of course it would, since its near enough an exact copy of my RQ6 sorcery spell 'Loxodromic Phasing' as published in Monster Island. :|

Re: (Xoth) Citadel Beyond the North Wind - Now Available!

In further support of Prime Evil, here's a quick list which I originally posted over on RPGnet during a discussion about the prevalence and potency of 'true' magic in the original REH Conan stories. In my opinion, some of these effects are very ostentatious, at least visually... ;) There's the summo...

Actually, the German version of RQ6 is nearing completion and should be available in the near future. ;)

You know, between RQ6, Monster Island and an article I wrote for Fenix, most of these are covered. ;)

Re: Elric of Melniboné

Problem is that the younger gamers generally have little knowledge of the greats of the pulp era, apart from Conan in his Arnie insubstantiation and the more recent movie. I've had to explain Lankhmar to youngsters and had a meh! response as it doesn't hold a candle in their estimation to WoW or Sk...

Re: Age of Treason PDF?

There's a new book with 95% new material for RQ6 that's approaching final draft, and that is focussed on the region of Korantia and seafaring fun across the Inner Ocean. It would obviously be usable for Legend players with fairly limited conversion work on the magic systems. I have enjoyed working ...

Re: The Spider God's Bride - A Mini Review

Hey Pete, good to see you mate. I notice there's a homage to Sword and the Sorcerer in Blood Magic. Good old Richard Moll (as the Sorcerer). At least it appears to be a homage to that classic heart-tearing B-movie spell. Yep it was in part, but it actually originated in the Conan story "The People ...

Re: The Spider God's Bride - A Mini Review

Send a chapter or two to each interested party (3-4 people maximum) - if he likes the work, a mention in the credits would probably be sufficient and perhaps a free PDF copy of the book if he's in a generous mood. I wouldn't be so sure, considering I still haven't even received a courtesy copy of t...

Re: The Spider God's Bride - A Mini Review

Given the way that the Manipulation skill has been broken up into a number of individual sub-skills, I suspect that there may have been some additional magic rules that were cut from the final version for one reason or another. But we may need to wait for an official explanation... It looks like to...

Or the Mediaeval stories of the legendary basilisk and cockatrice, the Greek myth of the Gorgon Medusa, and the tale of King Midas. All stories based around the terrifying concept of the Evil Eye being able to afflict the victim with a permanent loss of male potency (or, in the case of King Midas, ...

Re: Quick and Easy Combat System

If you want simple then go with Openquest. If you want fast then go with Legend/RQ6. BRP tends to lose out on both fronts, being more fiddly to set up and bogging down at higher skill levels.

Re: Damage Resistance and Damage Enhancement too effective?

Damage Resistance is even worse, creating a force field of 7 AP around the warriors he is boosting, also for just one CA and one MP. Most enemies will have a very hard time bypassing this (granted that the spell doesn’t protect at all if 8 or more points of damage is delivered). As you said this do...

Re: Attacking with Animate (Substance)

Only to find that the hero is sorely outmatched in Unarmed skill, the sorcerer reaches out and grapples with our hero, who vainly tries to break free. But it is no use and the evil sorcerer quickly wrestles him to submission. The sorcerer sits back and thinks again how his long hours of practicing ...

Re: The low end of damage

Thanks for the nice compliment Dan. The damage system in MRQ2/Legend is a continuation of how it has always been modelled in RuneQuest and other BRP games, with bashing or stabbing weapons gaining a +1 or +2 damage bonus. This has a degree of justification since stabs or bashes tend to be more able ...
