Re: Starline 2500 Klingon D17 -- Exploratory concept

This is amazing! I am looking forward to the other angles, but even with just the one top view I already want a whole fleet of them.

Re: Assembling Federation ships

Any sort of superglue works well, resin loves it. Just be aware that it sets more quickly than it will with metal models. I use zap-a-gap with no problems.

Re: Pictures of Klingon Squad box after cleaning(pict Heavy)

Mine were pretty similar and I used hot water to fix the bent wings. It works really fast, faster than other resins I've had to straighten. About 2 seconds in water that was freshly boiled, straighten, then run under cold water to instantly fix it in place.

[SF] Ship building & positive resin properties

Finally got around to breaking out the Xacto blades and files tonight and I am happy to discover some positive properties of the resin that Mongoose uses. It can be filed quite handily. I am used to other resin models that cannot be filed without destroying a ton of detail. It reacts easily to hot w...

Re: Painting Star trek Miniatures

Did you wash the models in warm soapy water before painting? Most resins have an oil on them that helps pop the models out of the molds when they are cast. That could be why your paints aren't working the way you are used to, and water would only make it worse. Can anyone confirm if Mongoose uses a ...

Thanks for the kind words Rich. I find the easiest trick is to simply use cotton torn into small chunks placed behind each track or rear wheel. You can spray it brown or tan depending on the terrain you play on.

Well that is a good point you bring up, and honestly I've always thought it a bit silly that there wasn't a specific rule for rejoining fireteams. In your example the squad leader allows his stray squaddies to act again when he moves to bring them inside his command range. The reason it doesn't work...

I love the sound of that! Just wipe it off? What will they think of next? :) I think maybe I'll try this and some MIG pigments would be a good step in advancing my painting skills. Thanks RobF, great info.

Couldn't see anything that disallowed it either, hence the question :) The rules don't disallow me from winning on the roll of a 2-6 either. :rolls: Ok, you got lucky this time, I rolled a 1. ;) In my experience "the rules don't say I can't" is not a good excuse to do something and when in doubt, u...

I haven't heard of the Pro Modeller wash before, thanks for the info! I just picked up GW's Delvian Mud wash because I had heard great things, but I'm not impressed. I'd like a high pigment content so I can dilute it as needed. Any idea how the Pro Modeller wash compares to the GW washes, or if it's...

Great paintwork there, thanks for posting. From the pictures on the Valiant website I always thought their models suffered from the heroic proportions of big heads, hands and weapons but this doesn't look bad at all. Cheers!

Well done and thanks for posting! I like the subtle weathering you've accomplished there. Mind telling me how you did it? The Armourfast cromwell is one of the best kits they've made, imho. No one else can use the weapon, so it can be quick to take out a heavy weapons team. If you can, spread out the extra crew so they are closer and so take the hits first.
