How have you guys liked the electronic warfare rules so far? Any Comms meks in your parties? I still find them very confusing.

Mongoose August said in the TTC thread that the final price was meant to be multiplied by the number of WarMeks involved in the mission. Personally, I despise this method. It's convinient from a game-mechanics point, I guess, but it really doesn't make any sense. No one I know would do business that...

Armegeddon Arena need not actually take place *in* an arena. I'm sorry for any confusion there. It's just a simple concept of placing budget and design limits on Warmek factions, then having those designs in some kind of competition. In some cases, this could be seen as some kind of duel in a fight ...

Limits and Categories for Armegeddon Arena 2089
Each scenario will have different rules. I'm writing them up now; I just didn't want to barrage too much information at once on the specifics. I'll work out the specifics though if you'll like the general idea. Herre's some bits from the first draft of the SCENARIO section: SCENARIOS Each week, the ...

Armageddon Arena: 2089
I was thinking of a fairly interesting campaign-type based on Götterfunke's idea of a contest between Warmeks as a way of demonstrating effective WarMek designs. What if we did a gladitorial arena thing, wherein PCs played gladitorial combats each session but were sponsored by people online using vi...

Thanks for the official update, Mongoose. But you give me false credit -- I can't find anywhere that I brought up the ommission you're talking about. In fact, if that update is used it pretty much blows a hole in some of my arguments, because then the payment comes out to something like half a milli...

My first negotiation
My first negotiation happened today. The negotiator was working for a corporation, but I was assuming he had resources similiar to that of a government, through a close (temporary) relationship with certain U.S. departments. This corporation was a mining company (one of the Resource Extraction compa...

Why monthly timetables work better than daily
Thanks, Lane, for taking the time to comment on this topic. I really didn't think anyone would. I agree, the impression from the books is that the missions were short term jobs. Absolutely. Unfortunately, I just can't see anyone actually running a war this way and I think a significant portions of c...

Thanks, guest. Two address your two points: * The TTC+3 should in fact be TTC*3. So sorry about that. It still doesn't fix the numbers exactly but it should come a lot closer. And yes, it doesn't work at all if your mission length is less than a month. * I now understand why the complications are no...

Time To Complition (TTC)
Step Five: The base offer amount is ((Initial Cost * (1.TTC-1))+Complications) * Economic Multiplier, generally rounded to the nearest thousand. p62 I don't know about you guys, but I hate the whole (1.TTC-1) thing. I also don't care too much for the small bits of money handed out. So what I've done...

The U.S., definitely. In a war of ideologies, you can't take any other side. The U.S. is going to rely heavily on propoganda. Eventually the whole battle against the EF that will take place in Mexico will be part of corporate plots, and the EF may not even be officially involved at all. Basically, t...

The chart is in there that lists the requirement for each mech size. I don't know where because I don't have my book now, but I assure you that it's in there somewhere. I'll post a page number tomorrow if no one beats me to it. I think it was 3 ranks for a tiny mech, 4 for a small mech, and 6 for a ...

Money
I don't understand money in this game. This is one of the very few games where I have a clear idea of how much money is supposed to affect gameplay and how it's used. Unfortunately, I don't know if I can use those ideas. PCs start with 25 million (dollars?), right? There are harldy any WarMeks that ...

Re: What are you doing with Arm2089?
I have no idea what to do for my WarMek game as yet. It looks cool, but I'm not used to running wargames like this. How much"downtime" would you say should exist between missions or mercenary contracts? How long should each mission take? How many actual gaming sessions should a 3 day mission take? I...
