Re: Airlocks and Landing Gear
Tea Five has some options on landing gear; a tail sitter might have it integrated in it's rear fins, assuming it had any. Tea Five? I could easily see something like the mercenary cruiser with its spherical hull and engine "struts" doubling as some sort of landing gear but even there I would think ...

Airlocks and Landing Gear
I've been tinkering with 3d modelling some ships again (and trying to get back to finishing the Voshtar) and in the process I've realized a couple things. Airlocks - The rules state you get a certain number of airlocks free based on the ships tonnage. Specifically 1 standard airlock per 100 dT of hu...

Re: [Deneb Sector] 2000 dT Huscarle Cruisers
Going to try to respond to most points in one post. I think the launch is fine where is. It allows VIPs to board and disembark without having to walk through other ares of the ship, and as for service, there is a lift for crew members to access the shuttle bay without walking through the rest of the...

Re: [Deneb Sector] 2000 dT Huscarle Cruisers
Cool beans! Though something to consider about having the launch on the same deck as the VIP area. You probably would not have that. In keeping with the ideas of your VIP's being nobles, they would not want to mix with crew or others of their ilk. Their deck would be separated from the rest of the ...

Re: Megafreighters
Shipping and what gets shipped in Traveller is something that deserves (and has had) its own debate. I've always had a few questions, to put it mildly, about how much in the way of common goods and so forth gets shipped around. It seems like in those cases it would be cheaper to produce them at the ...

Re: [Deneb Sector] 2000 dT Huscarle Cruisers
Quick update on the Voshtar. Mostly happy with the Diplomatic Deck plans at this point, though I'm still pondering maybe tinkering with both the number and placement of the escape pods. But, here's a graphic and some notes in the meantime. http://www.bardicheart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/Voshta...

Re: [Deneb Sector] 2000 dT Huscarle Cruisers
I'm not comparing the HG 2e Atlantic to a player designed ship, I'm comparing it to its original self as published in CT 09 Fighting ships p32. Heavy Cruiser CR-Q4459J3-A66900-909N9-0 MCr47,544.71 75 ktons batteries bearing Y G51P TL=15. batteries Z M61W Crew=492. Cargo=200. Fuel=36,750. EP=6,750. A...

Re: [High Guard] Weapon and component questions
Another question. Reading through the starbase section of Hg 2e I was looking at the mineral refineries. Specifically a TL 10 refinery produces ore at the rate of 1 ton per ton of refinery and needs 1 crew per 20 dT of refinery. So far so good, that part is clear. However in the next section on Smel...

Re: [Deneb Sector] 2000 dT Huscarle Cruisers
@Dilbert Unfortunately the Atlantic class heavy cruiser has very little in the way of PD. It has 4 Type II PD batteries which after reading over the rules again from both Core and HG, I doubt it would eat those missile salvos. When I ran the numbers (and I might not have done it correctly, so we'll ...

Re: [Deneb Sector] 2000 dT Huscarle Cruisers
Couple of quick thoughts on the fleet topic. First, I'm not saying what you propose is impossible, but lets say we have two Imperial CruRons facing off as part of the rebellion after the assassination of Strephon, and that mainly because I don't know of any official Zhodani heavy cruiser designs to ...

Re: [Deneb Sector] 2000 dT Huscarle Cruisers
I really should write up a new thread post on fleets and fleet doctrines and branch that discussion off. Will get too that soonish. @AnotherDilbert Regarding the Midu's, I guess what I was thinking was assume a CruRon of 4 heavy cruisers (75kdT each) so they *should* have about 75 sensor ops each fo...

Re: Ship is destroyed, now what?
Well first, obviously the ship has not been "destroyed" or else there wouldn't be anything for the surviving crew to be on. Disabled might have been a better word. I wouldn't say the ship isn't repairable either, its just beyond the point of battle repairs. That aside, if it were a big battle with s...

Meanwhile all this kinda of suggest another thread topic. Might start that, its worth a good discussion of its own.

Hehe, I look away for a bit and you guys crank out a couple pages of interesting discussion. Its a bit much to catch upon and address point by point so I'll try to sum up a few things. I very much agree some of the published designs are silly, the Midu Agashaam is one of those that makes me scratch ...

Gravitic fashion accessories are all the rage this season you know.
Still trying to get back to this, between the holidays and a power outage due to weather I've had a few distractions. Also Steam sales, they've contributed to the distractions.

Re: Armor Factors
This leads to cruisers with Armour 100 and battleships with Armour 200 or so. And fighters will still have ridiculous armour since they don't have to accommodate all that jump fuel. And you have to rebuild the entire combat system... Pretty well sums it up for me. I agree the problem isn't that fig...

Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread
Ive toyed around with a similar idea with an asteriod space station. Asteriod ships are soooo cheap. Using a megafreighter is a cool idea. Would be massively expensive to refit even if they stole the freighter, but then again, a large, self sufficient, space station ought to be expensive. Ripping p...
