Re: Elric Timeline

you could try searching around
multiverse.org archives.
There are lots of references to both Elric's and the Young Kingdoms history.

Re: Camels?

Sorry but I had to add my 2 bits, a slightly less robust camel with a better nature :) Very similar in stats to a horse, just a little tougher, with reasons why a camel is better in the desert. CREATURE NAME: Camel - the ship of the desert STR: 3d6+18 CON: 3d6+10 SIZ: 2d6+18 INT: 4 POW: 3d6 DEX: 2d6...

Re: Bardic Magic & Necromancy

RE. Bardic magic. Looking at common magic it would be very easy to interpret many of the spells as useable by a bard. Of course the lowest % score of sing, instrument and the common spell would have to be used to cast the magic. Taking fanaticism as an example, take everything such as cast time, mag...

Re: Heavy Mace

I see your point of view with a) but think you should leave it as no other weapon apart from the long sword has it size change with 1H/2H use. I also agree with Old Timer on point b), limit sunder to 2H use. Think of how you can use this in game, whole cultures or laws can be based on the use of or ...

Re: Campaign Setting

Nice setting I like it. But - Saxons used mostly a spear, shield and long knife (less than 30cm in length). Swords were a rarity and much prized. Bows were used but are found in very few graves so just how wide-spread they were is unknown . Bows are synonymous with the Welsh Marches. Even in Celtic ...

""Marco Polo saw such a tribe, which he called 'the chinocefalilor' and mentioned that their faces were like the bulldog dogs. They used to cut their cheeks, their teeth pilească, ciuntească their ears and heads to reshape since [they are] small children." I was interested as to what the untranslat...

Re: Căpcăun, or Ogres

I am inclined to agree with Olaus. But are not the origins of such creatures found in the legends concerning Alexander the great? Pre-dating Arthurian myth and German folklore they first appeared in text in Greek (as the word cynocephaly indicates) in the 3rd century, and slightly later contemporary...

Re: The low end of damage

If those + points of damage are such a big deal (and I admit I've never liked them myself and tried to keep damage to whole dice values where possible), has no one considered converting them to an armour reduction value, either vs specific or all armour types. The stiletto at d3+2 could then be redu...

Re: Prosthetic limbs

Personally I think you're looking at minimal tech here, a wooden stump for a leg, a hook for the hand - maybe a basic articulated hand with a two prong grab if you can find a master craftsman that understands such things as well as knowing a good deal of anatomy. Something like a socket to bind a sw...

Re: Elric - Rune of Reflection Hypothetical

Ah this rune again! Causes so much debate. (as you already know Damon (see link below)) I would go with option 1 Damon. Keep it that way as multiple reflected attacks is just silly and this isn't a rune that can oppose another rune. The players themselves should see sense and not attack again, if th...

Re: Elric - Gift Enhanced Learning

It gives the bonus to individual improvement rolls depending on the number of dedicated POW points spent on the gift. 1 POW = 1 IR, 3 POW = 2 IR (1 POW for the 1st, 2 POW for the 2nd) and so on. Once you've used the gift I would say it's gone. I would say you are reading that wrong. One use for a p...

Sir, you display an erudite elegance in your choice of Greene's works. If your sword arm were half as accomplished as your mind I would have no wish to cross either.
I trust the shared moniker is but coincidence?

Re: Sanity

Sure - warhammer has made decades worth of material out of combining the two... As I say - eventual mental ruin bad - but fear and terror when, say, a demon appears tells the players they're in for a particular type of experience; one mood or themed based. For an example of my general play style my...

Re: Sanity

Does sanity even have a place in heroic fantasy? Unless you have some encounter in mind that specifically targets the mind. Think of your favourite fantasy or mythological character and think how far he or she would have got in a straight jacket. I don't agree with it in the least. Cthulhu is specif...

Re: General "any magic around" perception?

As you say, its just a matter of justification.
Even so I would only let it be a vague feeling, and any information acquired would be based on how high up in the cult they are (short of GM fiat) so the characters pact skill would be a useful skill to apply the test to.

Re: General "any magic around" perception?

In Elric (MRQ2) there is an advanced skill called witch sight, but surely any magic system can provide a method of magic detection. A little self harm blood sacrifice for blood magic, a commune with ones spirit guide, common magic spells of varying power to determine basic magical aura (perhaps seco...

Re: Ships crew

After a quick look it would appear to list average sized full compliments of crew, of which one third to a half would actually be needed to run the ship easily, less under easy conditions, far less in a pinch. For instance, a ship such as the Mary Rose could operate at a push with a skeleton crew of...

Re: Critical Rune Casting in Elric

Personally I would say that even with a critical at least one point is required to channel the magical energies and maintain a rune. Some other benefit could be gained from the critical - an insight into the rune that is rewarded with an advancement roll perhaps, or improved function of the runes ef...

Re: Elric : Casting runes and dedicated power

you are correct..in that case he would have just one point of power, but you are reading it wrong (it is badly written). As Theleb K'aarna is NOT in the legend book but on 195 of the Elric core rules you can see he has 11 pow available and 10 dedicated to chaos in brackets for a total of 21 the 10 p...
