Re: NA - FS Query

Thanks for the answers :) One other thing.. I bought the FFS module online on wargame vault, where the only feedback starts "This is a godawful lousy product." see here.. http://www.wargamevault.com/product_reviews_info.php?&reviews_id=82362&products_id=103393 regardless, I bought it anyway - is the...

NA - FS Query

Bought this many moons ago.. Actually read it now.. Few queries for anyone who can help. 1) Does range really not give any bonus / negative - unlike in NA:SF being over half range doesn't seem to do anything (I was expecting a -1 to-hit or something) 2) The 'Heracles class armoured cruiser' in FFS -...

Re: A question for the ACTA Community

Only came here looking to see if mongoose did a space station for ACTA.
And... I see yet another game system dropped by them!

It almost beggars belief they have any customers left....

To the poster: Full thrust is alive and well and delivers a good game.

Interest in buying fleets?

Hi all, just curious whether there would be interest in buying my existing fleets? I have Federation, Klingon, Kzinti and Romulan. All very nicely painted. Just the 16 ship boxes for each I believe (fleet boxes). I'd be looking for £150 per fleet plus postage (~£10 maybe). I don't want to break them...

Re: Is ACTA SF a good analog for SFB or FC?

The problem with the fed/klink matchup is not only that the klingons are too agile (though removing agile does much to reduce this) but that also the feds are slow turners. They are not as slow to turn in the source material. I think the designer put this in to emphasise the differences between the ...

Re: Is ACTA SF a good analog for SFB or FC?

If you're a Star Trek fan and want a simple combat game
...then you probably already bought 'Attack Wing' to sit next to your existing X-wing fighters for the same game system. And guess what? It's in every game store in the whole world.
ACTA lost out big on that one.

Re: Noble Armada

unless you can prove there is something broken There have been many, many threads on this. There is enough info and enough rules suggestions on this board to keep a small army busy just reading through the damn stuff and very little of it went anywhere. Anyway.. Hail Caesar time. ACTA sits on the s...

Re: Noble Armada

The new book is more likely intended for adding additional rules The PDF/fixed/V2 or whatever you want to call it will need to wait until ADB can find time to spend on it along with Mongoose. This exactly. The fixes have to wait but a new book has some priority. How can it be expected than an add-o...

Re: Noble Armada

I can only hope that you're wrong about delaying the Hydrans. A book with Lyran, Tholian and a fixed set of rules doesn't sound to me like one that would sell very well unless it was cheap. Yes I know you mentioned Orion but they're pirates and ACTA is a fleet game - always struck me as strange they...

Re: Noble Armada

What's hf? the product schedule shows nothing about ACTA (http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/releaseschedule) Whilst I am glad to see that ADB is supporting the line as I do not want to see it die, there is little interest in playing this now at my local club. As my dad said when I suggested it the o...

Re: Noble Armada

Fair enough then.
I was going to post about how stuff's been dropped and not finished and blah blah blah.
There's a hundred posts saying the same stuff now. Maybe we'll just go back to full thrust. I'm sure there's a Trek conversion somewhere. <abject disappointment>.

Re: Noble Armada

In most businesses if you can't support all your business lines, the least successful would be dropped to make way. At least in the short term.
Just saying perhaps a restructuring is in order. That paramount fee can't be cheap.

Re: Balance Changes

I have to agree most things work OK. The photons are modelled in ATCA as they are in FC - they are a wild punch weapon, potentially devastating but usually 'meh' The #1 thing that doesn't 'feel' right in comparison to FC is seekers. Now that would be OK but almost everything has a seeking weapon. I ...

The net reault I believe would be DISR range 24" Killzone 12"

Which is in effect a nerf to make it less effective over a foot.

Re: Balance Changes

Wasn't the Q whether to remove accurate from phasers firing at plasma torps? Rather than to remove it from phasers. IE: a buff to plasma. The plasma does need some kind of buff to stop it being shot down so easily & bring it more in line with FC. Do rather like the idea of changing disruptors to Kil...

If you're in the UK, ground zero games makes hex bases that will fit. You can see in their online catalogue that they have these: 'FT-003A Large hex stand (metal) - pack of 4' They're big and chunky. £6 for 4. Re: Romulans vs Klingons. Oh my...

Hi all, been awhile now since I posted my ideas for revising drones.
We continue to play with them and find they work well.

Just wondering if anyone else gave them a go? (or for that matter any of the other house rules I posted)

Re: Pirate use of Empire ships

As far as I remember they had their own ships. In F&E (the strategic game of 'the war' in the SFU) they were raiders and only a very, very periphery power. More of a nuisance than anything else. As you'd expect - they're pirates. Now that's not to say that they never captured any empire ships, just ...

Re: [ACTA:SF] There is a need for more Call out Notes

Call out notes seem a bit premature considering the recent voicing of opinions.
Perhaps the rules need finishing/fixing first before discussing tactics.
