Re: xoth cultures
That sheet isn't complete because I missed out a couple of groups which were too out there for PCs, I think the demi-god giant guys and it's very general - especially compared to - (if you can get hold of a 2nd hand copy) Age of Treason which gives you a huge amount of detail and ideas for the profe...

Re: xoth cultures
I realise that. And in no way did I mean to suggest that a half finished product was released . Apologies if I caused any offence. However the question is still valid. What is your opinion on where they fit? Cyrmu, I did some conversion on XP1 before the Mongoose edition, don't know how usef...

Re: Legend Quickstart
The $1 rulebook isn't enough? I think Legend got a lot of exposure online because of that. It's only the PDF that's $1. The QSR would be a great starter to whet the appetite for the hardcopy book. Also, Mongoose could consider investing in things like Legend and Traveller LBB covers. Something to m...

Re: New Setting for Legend: Sheoloth - The Sprawling City
I would love to see adventures set in a generic setting or sandbox, like Book of Quests and Monster Island. I would also love to see a book on generic fantasy Cults, Factions and Guilds, that I feel would be invaluable to GMs. I'm not sure that makes sense since it's already there - someone with Le...

Alex, your 4shared folder also seems to contain downloads for commercial Legend PDFs published by Mongoose.

Re: System Hack - Input needed
A second thing I've been toying with is the idea of allowing Hero points to be spent to advance weapons/items. Basically, things that could be considered of an heirloom nature. They could spend a Hero point to unlock, say, extra damage against certain creatures, or make a shield un-sunderable. Has ...

Re: Runecasting?
The runes are the personality of the deity. You can't look at a single rune in isolation since the god is defined by the combination of runes it is associated with. Death+Truth isn't the same as Death+Disorder+Darkness and you can see this illustrated pretty clearly in the differences between Humakt...

Re: Runecasting?
I don't agree that a cult's runes had 'little impact on the game itself'. In the case of Glorantha, if you are a member of Humakt then Death and Truth runes are going to have a huge impact on your character, how you behave, what magic is available to you, how others relate to you. I suppose you coul...

Re: Runecasting?
In the original RuneQuest you could understand runes as individual components of magical power, with the 'goal' of RuneQuest being the mastery of one or more runes generally through membership and progression in a cult - and since cults are defined by their runic association, mastery in a cult leads...

Re: Book of Quests
What sort of quests are included? It's a meaty book with a strong 'heroes against chaos' theme in a sword & sorcery setting. I get a distinct Warhammer-Old-World (from the Warhammer RPG not the wargame) vibe from the setting and events - by which I mean the threat to the Realm from the forces of ch...

Re: The Spider God's Bride - Fixing Errors/Oversights
I think the Heroic Abilities of the cults are a little over the top, yes these things have to be paid for but it starts to lean the cult in the direction of superpower-wish-granting entities which doesn't quite fit the setting. The abilities are significantly more powerful than the ones in Legend. C...

Re: Intro to Legend
No, you're definitely not the only one! Steampunk and gothic horror in one setting = double the awesomeness! :D Just imagine being trapped on an airship with Dracula on a night flight over the Carpathians....or helping Sherlock Holmes track down Dr. Frankenstein....or hunting down Jack the Ripper b...

Re: Intro to Legend
True, but in the here and now, if Issaries hadn't withdrawn the licence, don't know why, don't care, we would be using Mongoose's MRQII which is not, and never could have been, OGL. The point is, Legend is now not a licensed product, it is a stand alone OGL product and that is fantastic! Tell me ab...

Re: Intro to Legend
Legend is Mongoose's baby. It won't just disappear because an outsider withdraws its license. Actually, it's the product of a license withdrawal - had Issaries, Inc. decided to extend the Mongoose license, there'd have been no Legend . Isn't it the product of years of work by Whitaker, Nash, Hanrah...

Re: Intro to Legend
I'm not sure I would want to write this on behalf of Mongoose. Some lines are a bit iffy, eg. Legend was originally developed to support a role-playing 'world' that has been around for more than 30 years is not strictly correct, Legend was created to do exactly the opposite, whereas you could say th...
