Re: Transit times table, corrected version?

Not that I know of, but it has been mentioned in the Core Rulebook Reprint thread.

Re: Where's that Gunner Sit?

The Harrier class though only features one gunner per weapon so it's an option to have two. Depends on the type of ship, military ships normally use 2 per turret, others are typically 1 per turret. The two gunners per turret on military ships never made much sense to me, especially considering how ...

Re: The All New 2300AD

Anyone spot the typo on the first page? We have :) I hope by that you mean the reference to Beta Centauri being a Core system. Beta Centauri is a separate trinary star system from Alpha Centauri and is 390 light-years from Sol, while Alpha Centauri is 4.4 light-years away. Proxima Centauri, ...

Re: High Guard Power points

By comparing to CT HG power points, I get 1 PP ≈ 5-10 MW, so quite a lot. Even a small ship, like a Free Trader, has a power plant of perhaps 500 MW, so almost a current major power station. Which would imply that beam and pulse lasers operate in the 20-40 MW region given they require 4 power point...

Re: Travellers Needed - Missiles (check our numbers)

I think the missile detection rules are a step in the right direction but agree with Ursus Maior that the difficulties should be reduced, these should reflect the narrative of the situation rather than be arbitrary values. For the target to be hit either the launching ship or the missiles themselves...

Re: Element Class Cruisers UNREP

That is actually a good question. I think there may be some confusion as to what an UNREP system is. The UNREP system is described on page 47 of High Guard and is intended to assist moving fuel and cargo between two ships. It is listed on the ship sheet and consumes 10 tons of space. It is also incl...

Re: Travellers Needed - Missiles (check our numbers)

Trial this with Missiles doing 8D damage, and Nuclear Missiles doing 1DD damage. The increase in nuclear missile damage is welcome, although I would go further, maybe 2DD or 3DD. They should be devastating and illegal so should be very difficult to acquire. While you state that we should ignore Hig...

Re: Shipyard Maintenance

For maintenance time there are two models I think we can consider: aircraft maintenance and ship maintenance. If we use aircraft maintenance as a guideline then (according to Wikipedia) the FAA prescribes four levels of inspection/service. The lightest levels (A and B) can be performed in an airport...

Re: Travellers Needed - Core Rulebook Reprint

Hopefully a simple one - can we have units specified for the travel times formula on p152? I'm always forgetting (e.g. can't remember now), but certainly remember it's definitely not base SI units as per physics :) It's annoying to have to calculate a couple of the examples on the table with differ...

Re: IISS Grav Bike design sequence

There is some ambiguity in the wording of the cost of life support that could add Cr50,000 to your costs. Short term life support is listed at Cr10,000 per space and consumes one space (per 20 people). What I think is not clear is if the cost per space is per space the unit consumes or per space of ...

Re: Travellers Needed - Core Rulebook Reprint

But at the same time, the slang name for credits is going to vary by location, culture and setting. I would expect the Zhodani, Vargr and Aslan have their own terms for the Imperial Credit, just as I imagine that people on Mora, Capital and Terra would all have different slang names for it. It might...

Re: Skill awards during character generation.?

Full rules text usually takes precendence over diagrams or examples in RPG books so I interpret page 16 to mean that regardless of whether you gain skills via basic training or not, you always make a roll on one of the career's skill tables. This is also how the RPGSuite software does it and how Set...

This doesn't appear to have made it into the final version of Mercenary 2nd Edition but from the second iteration of the playtest : The only weapons capable of damaging the exterior of a spacecraft are Destructive weapons, detailed on page XX. Note that when engaging spacecraft engage personal scale...

Re: Weapons Playtest - Second Round

The Army and Navy model gauss pistols have retained AP ratings despite the majority of personal gauss weapons losing their AP ratings. Either all gauss weapons should lose their AP rating, or my preference would be to restore the AP rating. Given they are full AP weapons currently, this should trans...

Re: Was this REALLY Beta Tested ?

I have many examples, but my favourite I have brought up in another thread: why is it that War Swords, Falchions, Sabres, Long Swords (the "Core Book" swords) have Hardness 6 but Bastard Swords, Broadswords and others (the "A&E" swords) have Hardness 4? The answer I suspect is that the weapon table...

Re: Second Edition - Comments Wanted!

I think you've identified the best candidates for a second edition already. I would also add Robot to that list, which could do with more example robots created using the design system as examples of the system in use and a rework to the design system itself to address the questions that keep appear...
