Re: 3rd party Publishers

Gypsy Knights is great. Even ignoring their sector books they have excellent ships and series 21 books. Spica is number two. Their career books are outstanding and includes D66 events for the basic MgT careers. Many of their careers are now available from MgT's material but they still have a number ...

Re: Is the cat out of the bag?

Sigh The 'Cat is out of the bag" refers to that time worn tradition of a Solomani Navy to have the bosun make a red baize bag. (He is also required to make a lanyard for his bosun pipe too) He pulls the 'cat out of the bag' a cat o'nine tails he also has to make for each whipping to be administered ...

Re: The Lone Starport

There are fueling stations across Rifts. One showed up in the old SCOUT CRUISER from Trav 20 EPIC adventure series. And was described.

Oh in above example it takes 6.5 years for transmission to get from a planet to station.

Re: How does the Third Imperium compare to the Roman Empire

There was a book series in which Rome survived to 20th cent. Authors name was Mitchell IIRC.

The 2 key events were no crucifixion, Pilates' wife argued successfully; and Varus won and Germany was conquered.

STARMAN of course. FIFTH ELEMENT Leeloo and Korbin Dallas,

Here is list of novels, to my knowledge none adapted for movies.

Almost all Sci-fi romance movies involve time travel i.e. TIME AFTER TIME.

Re: Adventure idea that needs ironing out!

1) Solar Flares are TL 16 and uncontrollable as Darriens found out.

2) What is in the safe that a corporation would spend trillions to acquire it?

It would be cheaper to detonate a ships engines over the main city and conduct robbery while 1st responders deal with disaster.

Re: Life and History of 3I and Traveller

"Actually it did for several years. The board game Imperium, set in the 3I, predates Traveller." Actually Imperium is set in the FIRST Imperium. The rules were started as generic. The box tagline went something like....if you always wanted to be there, even for a minute...referring to Sci-Fi book s...

Re: What if the Solomani subsidized their scout ships for ex

How about the Soli's take that '30%' budget loss and buy some cheap surplus Type S, Marava's and Beowulf's and infiltrate using those. Which would be less noticeable?

Re: Sargasso Hex's

It is vaguely implied recon has been done. The Imperium knows every ship they've sent in that didn't jump back out w/o contacting the hulks/planet surface doesn't come back. They don't know why. Worse most of the ships in system are military. Civvies rarely enter a system not on the charts. The Impe...

Re: Sargasso Hex's

F33D You must have missed a detail. No one who entered system and boarded a derelict or landed on planet has ever been heard from again. Jim Cunningham was a brilliant scenario designed and one of the Keith brothers said he burst the magazine size limit to breaking. A pity he never switched to writi...

Re: Sargasso Hex's

The third issue of HIGH PASSAGE (FASA 1982) had a Sargasso hex specifically 0510/Ile/Old Expanses. It was called The Edge. X-768000-0 G class star with one planet so fuel is only on that world. Any ship that jumps in never leaves. If a ship with spare fuel jumped in it could jump out if it didn't bo...

Re: Who are the Darrians and the Solomani?

Naw, the OTU would have a lot less future shock that Transhuman Space, as many things in the Traveller World are just futuristic analogs to things in the modern world. Postulation is TL15 Terra. Despite the limited insight of 1978 GDW the futuristic Terra would be incredible to see. To suddenly tra...

My question is a little more technical than the others.

How did you get the stats to post in post 1. All I ever get is gibberish when I've attempted to post ship stats.

Re: Who are the Darrians and the Solomani?

The Future Shock would probably be coma inducing. Example 1945 TL 4-5 Russians entered Berlin a TL 5-6 city and the several peasants unscrewed lightbulbs and cut faucets from walls under the assumption once installed in their huts in the hinterlands would work there. They recognized the items and wh...

Re: Who are the Darrians and the Solomani?

Yup Big Brother is watching, watching Thetis and Laputa fight a war, watch those two then ally and fight Kukulcan, watch Kukulcan sway New Bootes to give up on retaking Terra. Yup SolSec sure watches. Neither the Navy, Party or SolSec has the sway over the individual worlds to stop them fighting ove...
