Re: New GM Questions Cornucopia

The rules for both combat and skill use are coming easier, though we learned today that the rules for regaining spells as a Divine user are.. harsh, to say the least. My current fix is that the initiate gains +40% to his regain spell tests as long as he's in good standing with his god, or he and hi...

Page 136 on Evading also makes it clear it's an option against "normal" melee attacks.

Re: New GM Questions Cornucopia

Wow, lots of questions! Here goes: Can you, if you have an arrow ready, shoot at someone you're in melee with? Yes. Note however that you can swing a sword a lot faster, and a bow is an inadequate defensive weapon. What happens if you attack someone who'se out of combat actions? Automatic failure on...

Re: Deus Vult: Sacerdos Custos Training Guide - Now Availabl

I really love this setting, and I'm glad to see that it isn't dead. Having bought the PDFs previously, it was great to get the new version for only $1.00! However, I have noticed a few 'errors' in the equipment section of the pdf; 1) The Asset Point costs for most of the special ammunition is missi...

Re: Adventure Design for Legend

"unfair"? The players being the ones who unleash the curse is not a punishment for them - it's plot advancement. I think what Ynas means is that if the mask/curse is going to be triggered regardless of player actions, it makes the player actions less meaningful (ie they cannot affect the story/plot...

Re: Adventure Design for Legend

@ Tias, some ideas off the top of my head: Perhaps the PCs are supposed to meet a local noble personally known to the benevolent lord of the realm as a trustworthy and honorable person. When they arrive at city the local militia is not welcoming but not openly hostile yet. The PCs find that the nobl...

Re: Doing my bit to mess with sorcerers

Very nice idea, and I think it will work 'out of the box' as you envisioned it. I disagree with alex that it should be limited to Divine magics - the trope of sorcerors meddling with magic they barely understand is older than old. Death at zero MP might be a tad extreme, though perhaps that's just w...

Re: A Legend City setting

13th Age, and I know what you mean RangerDan - the pledge levels are a mystery to me but that's not where I have any say at all. Right, and I think that may be my concern with it. I'm intrigued by the idea of a spiritual successor to Dark Sun (I had a lot of fun in that setting), but my impression ...

Re: A Legend City setting

Ah yeah Darren I had spotted your name on the Kickstarter page. I'm intrigued, though I don't actually play any of the supported game systems. I guess you're in for 13th Age, or is there some secret d100 support planned as well? :D (As a side-note, it seems like an attractive print product, but $35 ...

Re: The Spider God's Bride - In Print!

Finally got the book in my corner of the world! Unlike all other Legend books, this one is full-size (rather than the usual digest format), and weighs in at 250 pages of sword and sorcery goodness! I'd of course already seen the PDF but I have to say that the print version looks great. Has a solid f...

Re: Age of Treason PDF?

Hmm so the PDF of the Iron Simulacrum is now permanently off-market? I own the hardback (I think it's out of print now right?) but lately I was thinking of getting the PDF version as well to add to my electronic library. Does this mean it will not be sold as a PDF anywhere? At the moment, no - I do...

Re: Arms of Legend

Yes there are some genuinely useful things in there, especially when your players throw a curveball at you ("Yes, we'd like to hire a carpenter, a weaver, and a scribe who can write Chingothian... also some 50 odd pigs... and a trebuchet! How much would that cost?") Just be warned that the section y...

Re: Sorcery As Transgression

I've always liked this take on the Theism vs. Sorcery thing: The creation and manipulation of "Reality" is a power usually reserved to the divine. Gods shaped the world in ages past, and are - in general terms - happy with the result. When priests cast their "miracles" they are basically asking (beg...

Re: Elric of Melniboné

Unlike a lot of TV and movie fans, computer gamers are already in the gaming mindset, and a tabletop RPG is in some ways a natural extension of the gaming experience. I can't say that I entirely agree. While superficially similar ("games") I think computer games and table-top RPGs are fundamentally...

Re: Elric of Melniboné

What is surprising to me, given the obsession with licensing official settings, is that there haven't been more computer game derived tabletop RPGs, i.e. like Dragon Age. Well, as the younger medium, many computer RPGs were originally based on tabletop versions (Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights). ...

I don't think there's POD for Spider God's Bride on Drivethru at the moment.

But what I think jux means (I certainly want to know) is when the dead-tree version for people who bought it will print/ship.

Re: Monsters of Legend 2

The fact that different dice pools allows you different stat distributions is a feature rather than a bug - it gives creature designers a lot of control over how their creations behave in play. ;) I agree completely. I think that large dice pools are very appropriate for certain types of creatures ...
