Re: RPE, FASA Games, and Noble Armada
Apep, any games in particular? Aside from ACTA I like full thrust and Starmada nova. I'm checking out the rules to pax stellarum, but haven't played a game yet. Dropfleet Commander by Hawk Wargames is one getting good vibes (and on my list) - (Dropzone is already in the shops - check out the Hawk W...

Re: RPE, FASA Games, and Noble Armada
Apep, I guess living in the USA I never realized that getting star fleet stuff would be hard. I've bought products from mongoose and ground zero games, as well as ADB. I was exited when I found out they were taking over start fleet:ACTA. I would like to say that I would not by another ACTA from mon...

Re: RPE, FASA Games, and Noble Armada
I don't think I would buy another ruleset from Mongoose, I did have high hopes for Starfleet but the move back to ADB has made it virtually impossible to get minis and players in the UK. Yes I know you can import but not having a player base in the UK makes it a waste of time. As for NA I have seen ...

Re: RPE, FASA Games, and Noble Armada
I'm curious how that project was going to turn out since I have both the old holistic rules as well as the ACTA one. Since it's April I'm guessing things went south since back in the summer the forum there implied they were close to being done. Rumour has it that is still in the works... but maybe ...

Re: Where to get Call to arm models in Europe?
I have seen very small amounts of "A Call to Arms" models in the UK shops - but I think they are from before the "change of model" i.e. ADB taking over the distribution etc. I don't think there is any UK or European distributor nowadays.

Re: Will there be another Call to Arms?
You never know when lightning will strike, before FFG launched their x-wing game would anyone have also thought the market is too saturated in miniatures games for another to succeed? FFG's Star Wars & WizKids Star Trek both have an amazing fan base and a lot of collectors buy, not to play - but to...

Re: Will there be another Call to Arms?
In my opinion any new ACTA system/setting would really struggle - It would need to develop a background and setting that could hook players, keep them interested for a number of years and evolve during this period. As for licenses - Most big ticket licenses are tied up in long term deals, B5 / BSG h...

Re: Noble Armada End of Line Sale
I had an idea that something like this was on the cards - I came across a reference to another NA minis game being planned around Christmas... wish I had saved the link. The problem is we do end up investing quite a lot in a game, and to have it end like this is disheartening, none of the gam...

Re: State of the Mongoose
If he spent half as much time writing the State of the Mongoose as he did responding to every little thing online and mucking up Star trek, it'd be done already. Catch 22 - Replies to posts - gets told he spends too much time responding to posts.... Does not reply to post - Will be accused of not t...

Re: uk stockest
dont think mongoose are selling it anymore, have to go through ADB Been away from the game for a while and did not know about this change. Shame as importing from the States tends to be a bit of a hassle. Have to be honest this means that it will make it more difficult/costly for UK players and if ...

Re: uk stockest
If you want the full line - go though Mongoose direct - As Kronos said IGUK and leisure Games are another good online bet - Also try Wayland Games.
Not seen much of the line in brick and mortar FLGS
beyond the rulebook.

Re: Battlefield Evolution Miniatures!
Not sure how feasible this is (Considering the big M's workload)
Create a rulebook for Evolution ONLY. - Include stats for standard units (grunts, tanks, aircraft, patrol boats, etc)
Use already commercially available models (Say 1:72 - 1:76 (OO) scale) as units

Re: Demise of the FLGS
Well... on Grainger Street in Newcastle there are 2 FLGS - Travelling Man (which I buy my games from, including a Bits and Mortar PDF) and Forbidden Planet. http://www.travellingman.com/page/23/Our_shops http://forbiddenplanet.com/events/for-location/newcastle-store/ Nearest FLGS (Static Games – Gl...

Re: Demise of the FLGS
IMO RPGs are probably a small % of sales for a LGS compared to boardgames, wargames and comics these days. Not sure the last time I bought an RPG in a LGS (must of been years ago), but I got a Talisman expansion just a couple of weeks ago. Interestingly - in my original post I was referring to all ...

Demise of the FLGS
While on a short break recently I took the opportunity to visit one of the FLGS and was quite shocked to see the drop in the amount of items on offer in the last six months. There were the usual big seller items – but the smaller more niche items have disappeared completely from the shelves. Would b...

Re: Comment on the State of the Mongoose
The hobby is having a lot of difficulty attracting new players - this may be connected to the disappearance of local game stores. We need to attract new gamers in (RPG's / War-games) but will only do so if it is something that interests new gamers. That means players and clubs have to be flexible a...
