Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread
I wrapped up a "season" of my Drinax game, the second so far--Real Life means our group needs to take a break for some months. A short summary: I was running the pirate half of Sun & Shadow. In our last game, they'd gotten some good intel, and were able to ambush and capture the Prophet Zomon. This ...

I'm getting ready to address a similar question myself. They've taken on the Tanith "side quest": 4 ships just left with potentially dangerous parasites on board-- go catch them! My first thought would be to plot the NPC ship's route, then roll 2d6 (or3) for each system entered. 2= something very ba...

Re: the player with the scout ship-- it can either be turned into shares, or let them keep it. What they do with it is up to the players. I could see it being used for scouting, visiting planetary offices without being a visible warship, or a courier (have to keep the King and/or Princess informed!)

Re: Ship Combat: The Particle Barbette
I read it as the whole crew takes the radiation damage. I didn't want to roll stats for the whole crew,so I assumed the average 7+7+7=21 damage capacity for all of them, and 8d6 damage (average 28) and 4 permanent END reduction looked like near-total crew death to me.

I think you have it all. I'd point out to your crew's targets that maybe they ought to surrender now, before they actually get zapped. My new crew was a little squicked with that weapon, and was happy to pick up a laser turret from salvage. Disregard that last; they just cheerfully fried an Aslan c...

What do you use for ship combat...
... to track a ship's damage and capabilities? Is there a printable sheet or card that I have overlooked?
I'm working up to a potential 2v4 battle in my Drinax game, and I'd like something standardized to keep track of damage and to-hit bonuses and the like.

Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread
Here's a short summary of my Drinax game today. The crew started at Torpol; the homeworld for 3 of Manticore 's crew. There was shore leave, more refitting of the ship (completely fixed the Jump drive and Maneuver drive, more Hull repairs and some of the cosmetic work on the bridge), and rumor-colle...

Re: Hazards of frontier refuelling
Regarding the difficulty of fuel skimming, the “skills and tasks” chapter of the Core Rulebook has a paragraph called “task checks”, that suggests that not every action needs a skill check. The referee should only call for checks when: ● The Travellers are in danger. ● The task is especially diffic...

Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread
I've run these players in this campaign before, we played the adventures 1, 2, 5, and 3. The new crew is taking over one of the Harriers found at the abandoned Sindalian station. So the same players but different Characters? Why? What happened to the original crew? TPK? When we ended the last game,...

Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread
My group had our first session. The short summary is that they took their Harrier from "Dragon Base" to Salif, got lucky in finding a derelict to salvage, and set off towards Exocet. A fair amount of time & effort was put into refitting the ship, now dubbed Manticore , both at DragonBase using their...

Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread
I'm restarting my Drinax campaign; Session Zero was last month and they'll start jumping tomorrow. Wish me luck! One question, as my last game was from the last edition: Was there any starting money for the ship & crew fronted by the King? I thought there was before, but I can't find anything like t...

Re: GM Advice: EPC's
I'm a big fan of GM-advice blogs, and one of them (10-ish years ago) was Martin Ralya's "Treasure Tables" and he had a similar idea to this. It was called the Evil Overlord, and there used to be a PDF of the blog entry. Sadly, it seems the links from Gnome Stew are now dead and gone. I tried to recr...

Re: Ship path visualization
When I was running Drinax last, I started to use a spreadsheet: columns for ships, NPCs, and/or groups and lines for weeks. I just rounded up time spent fueling, shopping, repairs, etc., in terms of weeks. We suspended the campaign before could really develop it, but that's my thinking of how to man...

Re: What's to stop them?
Sounds like a LOT of paperwork is involved. And Lawyers, lots of lawyers. And family members who may be further down the list of heirs, but may still have a legal say in what happens to the family property. THEY will surely get lawyers. All of that will take time, more time, and money. Probably not ...
