Interesting, we've basically used the same rules as everyone else of shield crits, BUT have reduced shield boost die equal to the maximum remaining strength of the shield - so 19 would be 0ne die (always get one die). Gives the Klingons a chance in a prolonged fight. And makes Gorn/Romulan furballs ...

I actually agree with you on the 'wait till it's all there' thing. I generally play either Fed/Kintzi v Klingon or Romulan v Gorn, so alot of the issues don't arise in these games (though i've still to work out how people think the Orion fleet is hard to lose with, Kzinti murder them, even with P-G)...

the main problem the Klingons face with shields is rebuilding/reinforcing. If you get around the side (extremely hard with Klingons due to all the agile ships), the double shield rule actually becomes a weakness as the base levels are worse (D6/7 have 18pt shields so only rebuild/reinforce at 1 die)...

That would ft with the upgraded Gorn Dreadnought (DNH), which has more weapons, better shields and a lower critical/crippled threshold - and is 10 points cheaper

What is it with the Gorn Dreadnought varients - both have improved shields (2 extra points), reduced critical rating (17 instead of 18), and obviously weapon changes (the DNH gets extra Phasers and Plasma-D, DNT loses Phasers and changes Torp Load). And there both cheaper than the Standard Dreadnoug...

I think that the packaging has recently changed - all ships at Crusade (January in Cardiff) were in blister Clamshells.

as i understand, range 5.1-7.5: -1AD, range 7.6-10: -3AD. Roll to hit, with '6' leaking. Roll AD of torp as straight damage, but with Plasma weapon effects.

so an S bolted at range 6 would roll 3AD (3-18) damage, at range 8 would roll 1AD.

That was me, and i only have the 8 sets you mentioned - don't use them myself -, happily organise a mass sending from the uk.
