Okay, the one in grey. If anyone is going to spread allergies (and nearly every other infection known and unknown), it's her.

Re: Invention of Synchronised Jumps

We're very used to the Traveller universe being two dimensional so we assume everything, including star systems as two dimensional. Everyone enters and leaves on the center of the disc. I prefer to believe there's some leeway up and down at least at the system level which is why ships can pass throu...

Re: Could species be allergic to each other?

A lot of people are allergic to foods and pets everyone else has no problem with. We either develop cures/treatments, and remember modern Earth is still considered low tech on the Traveller TL scale, or we learn to avoid what we can't handle as best as possible. It seems a majority of humans in char...

Some reason my mind imagined they act as like charge fields that become increasingly repulsive forcing such fields away.

Re: Invention of Synchronised Jumps

When someone wrote a successful add on app boosting any Jump Control +5 bandwidth. If that is all it takes, The Terrans might have created it for their fleets against the Vilani which may have been a big factor during the wars. I'm sure the Hivers did it about the same time as creating their origina...

Re: High Guard design options on standard ships

The iconic 'standard' designs are the most common variant in charted space. There is no reason ship architects and shipyards wouldn't design a wide assortments of similar ships based on the needs of buyers. I see many ships out there that make great use of the Primitive and Advanced Spacecraft rules...

Re: High Guard...Flattened Sphere Hull?

Remember one thing, the ship isn't restricted to exactly a sphere. That is the general primary shape. The structure can have extensions to the shape for function. The broadsword is an example how you can land a sphere without it rolling away.

Re: High Guard...Flattened Sphere Hull?

I assumed the Standard configuration is used as a catch all for some iconic ships of earlier editions that couldn't be pigeon holed to other shapes.

Re: Uptime 15,364 days - The Computers of Voyager

The more complex the plumbing, the easier to stop up the drain.

Comparatively, the Voyager computers are very simple as well as the survey systems on board leading to inherent durability. They also didn't design these systems for planned obsolescence as we're used to in everyday products.

Re: How long can a person survive in a low berth?

Hairdressers and phone cleaners?.... Even our history attest that colonies don't go solo and isolationist thinking they can handle every issue. They often want an avenue for goods they can't produce until they are WELL established with plenty of resources, the means to harvest and manufacture materi...

Re: How long can a person survive in a low berth?

I would love to see those generation ship designs especially since T5 introduced Not As Fast As Light drives. I'd also like to know why Terra was sending colonial ships many dozens of parsecs when there are plenty of systems close by and would have much more information or were we doing this to piss...

Re: How long can a person survive in a low berth?

I would say low berths were never purposely designed to last centuries or millennia let alone decades. Planned obsolescence. Creating a unit meant to function continuously for incredible spans of time should be, at best, the work of megacorps with very deep pockets and suspicious motives. As we see ...

Re: Traveller and ion storms

I'd say use the effects of New Weapon Trait: Ion and have the effects last as long as the referee needs. Uses will involve whatever the Ref wants from making combat more interesting in an encounter to forcing a ship to enter a planet's atmosphere and maybe ground to escape the effect leading to anot...

Re: Starter ships

Everyone expects a shiny new starship as a benefit then complain at the cost. One workaround is using the Older Ships rules (Core book pg. 164) to lower the price. You end up with a Millennium Falcon which Han and Chewy treated as a fixer upper over the years. The other issue is so many scenarios gi...

Re: How long can a person survive in a low berth?

The length of time a person can stay in low berth is relative to the low bid of the manufacturer.
