Transpoders

This is an old question, I know... and I'm pretty sure most of this is based on our current understanding of modern tansponders and little to do with actual Mongoose game mechanics... Are the standard range tables for detection and levels of information modified at all depending on a ships transpond...

Re: Damaged Armor/gear

20% per point lost seems a bit pricey IMHO, but I get the fact that it normally costs more to fix many items than to simply buy it new. The next few sentences are from memory... I'm working all weekend and my books are at home... so these numbers could be wrong... For combat armor (MgT1) it is 300,0...

Re: Happy Fortieth Birthday, Traveller!

I was first introduced to Traveller in 1980/81. I was in 8th grade, about a year after I was introduced to the D&D basic set.

Re: Damaged Armor/gear

Yeah... it's all very basic... I used to LARP many years ago, and there was actually a rule about degradation of armor. Armor was reduced by 1 point once your armor was penetrated. You had to have an armor smith fix it to bring it back up to full after each combat. If your armor eventually went to "...

Sensor Range - details

Under the Sensor range chart, it is pretty specific about the level of details... minimal, etc... "hot or cold, tonnage of ship, general shape/hull type of ship" etc.. But if you are a long ranges, say in your "minimal" range for visual / IR in the 50,000+ ranges... AND you roll really high on your ...

Damaged Armor/gear

Last week we ended the game in a lull in combat. The party had boarded a Vargr Corsair (it attacked the party's ship and lost) and eventually the party successfully hard docked with the crippled pirate ship. The party managed to fight through a group of 4 Vargrs in combat armor, knocking them uncons...

Re: Safari Ship Adventure Transplant

That is a bit far from the area my players are in, but worth a look. Sorry for the abrupt reply an hour or so ago. I was in a hurry headed to a meeting so I had to keep it short and simple... Basically I know that many of you know more about this Sector than I. Tonight the players will have an encou...

Re: Safari Ship Adventure Transplant

Culture is not my main question. Technology is not my main question. None of this is why I posted this subject.

The question is... does anyone have any other suggestions for a place to Transplant the Safari Ship Adventure in this part of the Trojan Reach?

Safari Ship Adventure Transplant

The Classic Adventure 10 (Safari Ship) was set in district 268. I would like to transplant this to the Trojan Reach somewhere in/near the sub-sectors of Non-31 Tobia sub-sectors, including Sindal, Dpres, and Boarder lands sub-sectors. Does anyone have any good candidates for a "safari" planet? Poach...

Shake Down Cruise

A couple of the guys I play with argue and bicker over the most minor issues, even issues that have nothing to do with the game. One such issue is a shake down cruise. They argue how much time it should talk before new players take over a new ship etc.. I patiently point out that there isn't any rul...

Re: Strend

With such a loaded word, I wish they had a written definition, a short paragraph or even a few words, in T5. (Yes I have a copy) It sounds like "hell world" isn't necessarily hot, (T5 has a separate designation for "hot" worlds... which is what confused me in the first place with the "hell world" de...

Re: Strend

So is Aslan alien book 1 no longer Cannon??? If the Traveller.map webpage is now cannon, then Albe is considered a "hell world" under the remarks, which I am assuming is their version of trade codes. Here is what it says about Albe under "remarks" on travellermap.... De He Hi In Po (desert, Hell Wo...

Re: Strend

Thanks. That is what I thought. I was looking at it late last night to verify, but then opened Travellermap on my lunch break The Travellermap has Strend as E while Mongoose has Strend as F. Since Mongoose is "official" and licensed to produce Traveller material, particularly since the Trojan Reach ...

Strend

I'm at work (as usual)... does anyone have the Mongoose Aslan book handy? Can somebody verify the TL for Strend, in the Strend Cluster? I seem to remember that it's a TL-F. If it's a bother, I can wait another 4-6 hours before I get home and check myself. I want to email a fellow gamer friend of min...

Re: Reach Adventure 4: Last Flight of the Amuar - on Drivethru

I have already inserted this adventure as a major plot hook for my players and it is on their list of things to do, but I was having an embarrassing bit of trouble... How exactly do you pronounce "Amuar"? Is it 3 syllables... "Ah-moo-are" /"Aaa-moo-are" or is it 2 syllables "Ah-mur" / "Ah-mar" / "Aa...

Re: A few of the planetary graphics I put together...

These are fantastic!!!
What software is this?
Is this a world builder software you are using?
Can you 'unfold" the sphere to form a traditional Traveller world sheet?

Albe is going to be a major planet for one of my campaign plot hooks by the way. :)

I would love to have your skills! Great job!

Re: Items 1 tech higher

I suppose if the base hull matches the TL of the ship yard, other higher TL components (like drives) can be shipped in from other higher tech manufacturing facilities and simply install them. I'm not sure about armor though. Bonded Superdence is TL-14, so can a TL 12 shipyard build a TL-12 hull enca...

Re: Selling Starting Gear

There is no way I'm going to give aging rolls for crappy old used equipment that characters get for mustering out benefits. Show me in the rules where it states a vehicle is an 80 year old rust bucket. If the mustering out benefits intend the gear to be old and worn out, it would state that fact in...

Expert Programs on ships

If I have 4 turrets, Will a single Expert-3 program (int based Gunnery-Turrets) work for all 4 gunners, or will I need 4 separate Expert programs for each turret if I want the benefit from the expert program? Same thing for Expert Engineer-Jump drive. If you have 2 engineers, and one decides to assi...
