Re: Yet another Battledress debate
Ever consider that battledress is useful for in ship fighting where you likely don't encounter many tanks? And I refuse to get dragged into a terrorist vs israeli soldier debate as such is likely too politically charged to be anything but flamebait and get some bannings issues. If I wanted to get hi...

Re: Yet another Battledress debate
Heh heh, if you want to see a sensible military you have to focus on Israel, probably the most professional and competent military on earth today. I think I have GTGF, will look it up. Wasn't there one GT book that grossly, and I mean GROSSLY over armored battledress? Errr, no. If you want to see t...

Re: Yet another Battledress debate
From the days of Striker, Battle Dress has been vulnerable to surprisingly low-tech anti-tank weapons. It provides you with great protection against fragmentation, however, and thats enough to make it worth using at a mere single digits of MCr a suit (some of the people in this long-dead thread hav...

Re: Yet another Battledress debate
Before anyone gets antsy about me necroing a dead thread, I did a bing search for traveller batteldress and found this thread. I do just so happen to have a few comments on traveller battledress and a comment re what I saw on this thread. First off, should battledress be immune to all 'small arms' i...

Atlas shrugged off mega city one
OK, in the real world I think that "atlas shrugged" is a load of elitist BS that has no relevance outside the daydreams of selfish sociopaths with a superiority complex the size of a small galaxy. In the twisted nightmare world of judge dredd, however, atlas shrugged might work. For a dredd storylin...

Along a similar vein, my favorite scene in this part was when the north korean diplomat claimed the unknown ships were designed and built by the dear leader.

2300 ship ideas
There's a little movie called "Iron Sky" that, near the end, has some near future earth ships from various nations attacking an enemy too weird to explain just now. (Seriously, go look up the movie here: http://www.ironsky.net/site/ ) Anyway, the ships externally look like 2300 ships and might be go...

Re: Traveller TNE?
You know, when the late, great Isaac Asimov started writing stories about robots, he was sick and tired of the old meme of the robot turning on it's creator and or all humanity and becoming yet another frankenstein monster. So he created the 3 laws of robotics to offset this and end the tired old cl...

I didn't make this, I found it years and years ago, I occasionally share it when the topic of ship blueprints comes up.

I wouldn't be interested in it without the virus.
I looked up traveller 1248, thanks for telling me about that little known jewel, but ti seems hard or expensive to get.

Traveller TNE?
I'd like to say that I think traveller TNE would be a good setting to reboot, especially given how popular the BSG reboot was. If someone were to reboot it and make the AIs not simply defective insane menaces to be hunted down and exterminated but made them a new type of life, evolving and surviving...

I got my hopes up when I heard about the "lifter" that turned out to be just a glorified ionic air impeller, but this looks more promising, and I bet the mythbusters can't bust it.

Re: 2300AD is Back!
I may get the 2300 sourcebook, but if I do it will be to convert it over to another system. I simply like the system I use and really don't want to flip over to a whole new system.
So would it be very hard to use the 2300 sourcebook as a guide to creatingthe setting with a 3d6 system like gurps?

I'm really disappointed that the dark judges aren't even scheduled yet. Frak the manta, the dark judges are a lot better for a miniatures game.

First of I must say I'm pleasantry surprised by the replies being so non hostile. Some traveller fhans would have been insulting my ancestory after I'd made this suggestion. The replies here have been very calm, cool and non abusive. Secondly, I still think that a game with transhumanism, AI, advanc...

Is it ok to mention other companies stuff?
I saw a product made for a different SFRPG by a different company that had nothing to do with traveller BUT that I believe would make a good purchase for most traveller reffs and players as it could be very useful for traveller and easily adapted to traveller. Is it ok to name and describe it here o...

Re: Latest Rulebook - Comments and Requests
Building collapse could be a real issue in a game that follows the JD comic. Also, if you have that weird gun that cuts thru anything but tends to get overheated and explode it becomes a major issue. I'd like to see democratic rebels done as serious, dedicated people fighting the worst fascist regim...
