Re: L. E. Modesitt, Jr. - Recluse Saga
Well there is the interesting cultural differences and also I do like the whole tech vs magic interactions - even if as you say some things don't work as they are supposed to. Yeah those are good things to play up with them. Though them landing in Hamor or the other island that is not Candar or Rec...

Re: Settings
Ok - something just occurred to me and I thought I'd just mention it. Gurps used to do a whole range of single source-books for their system; adapting it to the various slightly different settings, some generic, some based on other IP's. I was thinking that, following on from Vikings, Samurai, etc....

Re: L. E. Modesitt, Jr. - Recluse Saga
Fall of Angels was good - be interesting if there were any more accidents that brought more Angels to Recluce........... At this point I am not sure what value they bring to the setting. They have more of a knowledge of since and such yes but most of the tech doesn't work on the planet. They work r...

Re: Settings
Interesting choice of series'. The Wheel of Time and Discworld already have RPG's - of the others; I'm not familiar with The Sword of Truth or The Inheritance Cycle, but the Drenai series would probably come the closest to a good Rpg. The Narnia series would be difficult to adapt, imho, due to the ...

Hi All What do people think of the people as possible settings for Legend? All of them have rich and detailed settings and have sold well so have established fan bases. Shannara by Terry Brooks The Sword of Truth by Terry Goodkind The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini The Wheel of Time by Rob...

Re: L. E. Modesitt, Jr. - Recluse Saga
Hold fire on that - won't do any good until I have a look at the books themselves (we have a million projects on the go, and only do the ones we are passionate about). Sure, they are good books in general and explore a lot of themes around order and chaos and personal growth. All the stuff you want...

Hi Mattmsprange wrote:I am afraid I am not familiar with it at all!
I would say it is one to take a look at, there are about 17 books I think and sales something like 23 to 27 million for the series.
I can put together a synopsis and breakdown of the setting and themes for you if you would like?

Re: Malazan Book of the Fallen
Ah - I must have been mistaken. The quote I saw mentioned sales of a million books, but for the series as a whole, not the last book. Don't get me wrong a million still isn't brilliant and is less then a lot of series. But compared to the vast majority of book series out there it is good. The major...

Re: Malazan Book of the Fallen
As I understand it, although some people have gushed about the series, sales have been 'modest' - which may mean that an rpg based on it would suffer a similar fate. I'm guessing that any publishing company which has to shell out for writers, artists and whatnot to get the rpg into print would want...

Re: Malazan Book of the Fallen
Hi Guys Question directed at Matt really is he has the time. Is it true that Mongoose wouldn't be interested in Malazan and if so why? The question probably sounds confrontational but its not ment to be at all. I am sure there is a reason I just haven't considered. I would just be interested to know...

L. E. Modesitt, Jr. - Recluse Saga
Morning all Been a while since I popped my head into these forums, hope everyone is doing well. Matt it was good to see you at Salute recently! So I was thinking about rpg games that Mongoose could produce and the Recluse Saga by L. E. Modesitt, Jr. came to mind. A rich setting with I think 20 novel...

What basic and possibly more complex advice to do people have for playing Feds in ACTA:SF?

Hey Matt
If I happen to be going to Crusade this coming week is there any chance I can pick up my pre-order there?
Many thanks

Re: Defensive Fire
Here's a quick question with regards to defensive fire against drones. In the rulebook it states when conducting defensive fire against shuttles, they get a -1 to hit due to their small size. Would this also apply to drones, which I would suggest would be considerably smaller than shuttles? In the ...

Re: Rumour Control - Shipping of CTA: Star Fleet
1) It's not capitalized 2) It's not stress 3) I don't do business with companies that act like this. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me What is it called when you get fooled 4 times? I would urge you to stick on in there and see what you think when the product arrives. The situa...

Re: Official Errata from Mongoose?
Comparisons between the SFU and ACtA:B5 are a bit apples and chalk, TBH. Both have their own balanceing factors and points systems are inherently a lot more flexible than Priority Levels. The problem as I see it is that ACtA:SF does not currently have any of the SFU's balancing factors, or indeed a...

Re: Where now? A Brainstorming Thread.
This is a minor point but one that I shall make, while doing fleets I sometimes have some points left over and quite often 25pts fits in nicely to that, so I whack the variant on for the extra phasors and command because I have spare points. This type of thing is what happens in points based games b...
