Re: Study Period and the character sheet

The first _ is the number of weeks you have studied. The second is the total number of weeks you need to study. Eg: 3/8, I have studied 3 weeks of my required 8 to get my Gun Combat skill from 0 to 1. 6/16, I have studied 6 weeks of my required 16 to get my Gun Combat skill from 2 to 3 At least tha...

Re: High Guard is Here!

Don't forget to include a garden (Biosphere, p44)! It might be the most profitable use of space in a commercial ship. They are nice... but as I'm trying to basically make a 2e version of the one in the 1e Supplement, I'm going to try to avoid anything that's not there. The only modification that th...

Re: High Guard is Here!

I _think_ I am right in saying that the airlock was added to the Gig in this fashion because it was a very small ship and the designer wanted the airlock taken into account. He did not have to do this by any means but it made sense for that particular ship. It makes sense that small ships wouldn't ...

Re: High Guard is Here!

Two related quick questions... It says on p22 that a ship may have one airlock per 100 tons (or part thereof), and additional airlocks may be added using the system in the spacecraft options. By my reading this means that a 200 ton ship would naturally have 1-2 airlocks for free, and incorporated in...

Re: High Guard is Here!

It's a minor thing but some nested bookmarks would be great. For instance, the Jayne's guide to spacecraft could do with a bookmark for each ship. If the PDFs weren't secured I would create so many nested bookmarks - for Jayne's Guide, for the optional systems... the main benefit of PDF is quick lo...

Re: High Guard is Here!

any plans to release an official new-High Guard reconfiguration for it and/or more ship types (low-tonnage ships with Jump-3 would be nice)? I would be surprised if that did not appear. We will be doing, for example, a mini-supplement for High Guard in 2-3 weeks (with material drawn from the forthc...

Re: High Guard is Here!

But you're probably going to end up with "per 200 tons of hull," knowing your luck. Accept that there has to be a limit, but there's a heck of a difference between 1 power per 2 tons and 1 per 200 (making it about what I'd expect). Most of the additional systems seem to take 1-2 power, but this tak...

Re: High Guard is Here!

Possible errata? The Holographic Hull states it uses 1 Power for every 2 tons of hull. Seriously? That means even a small 200 ton ship would be using 100 Power to have a holograph on the hull... as that uses more power than the basic system and Jump drive put together? Surely that's gotta be an error?

Re: Spinward Marches 1: The Bowman Arm

I have basically been told to Write All The Things. There will be more Trojan Reaches material, and more Spinward Marches, and more Infinite Horizons. And you want the Solomani Rim? That could happen. Also more ref's briefings. That'd be awesome. with Traveller 1e we did a Reign of Discordia campai...

Re: Starship Quirks

Page 164 of the 2e core rulebook has what I consider a very limited range of quirks, and the 2-12 format results in nasty negative results on average. I'd like to construct a d66 format quirk table. Besides the ones listed, does anyone have quirks they use? I want both annoyance/pleasant minor thin...

Additional limbs/Augments

Hi everyone One of my players is playing an imperial-raised Aslan with a Prehensile Tail augment from the Aslan book. This is rather brief in description and only really says that it can be used as a third limb, and gives an extra minor action per combat round if it can be done with the tail. It cos...

Re: Mongoose News - The Printed Edition of Traveller has Arrived!

I have also used Excel/Word character sheets for years. I love my digital character sheets. Ditto  - I usually make an excel/word character sheet with automated lookups and calculators (very very handy for d20 system!) and then we "print to PDF" for universal application/ease. Lo...

Re: Overcoming Combat Armor Near-Invincibility

I actually like that combat armour and battle dress are really tough to get through. In my game I had the players in a cafeteria with an allied imperial fugitive and a single soldier with a pulse rifle and battle dress turned up to arrest them (or rather, hold them there until the authorities turned...

Re: Mongoose News - The Printed Edition of Traveller has Arrived!

Funny how far we have come. All for a Pen and Paper game. Lol ironically for the last few years our pen and paper rpg games have not involved any pens or papers - we've generally had character sheets in pdf format viewed on tablets or phones - saves money on reprinting (some games are mul...

I too own both and find each has its use. I love reading the book, and I find using the PDF to find specific items quickly and that can be quite useful. I am glad I have both. Ditto - I find the pdf faster to look for things (either via the bookmarks or the search function) if I dunno whe...

Re: Skill Specialization Question

I agree with most that I would let my players choose - however (since there's only one player main engineer) I would encourage the player to ensure he has engineer (J-Drive) 1 at least. Considering it's the most used daily engineer specialty, it's important - imo the most important engineering speci...
