Re: Faster then Light?

Looking at both books, it seems as though the FTL drive mentioned is the standard B5 jump drive. Not in the Centauri book it ain't... The reverse engineering of the Shoggren Crystal Drive described on page 99 leads to the paragraph... The test flight worked better than anyone could have hoped for. ...

Re: Faster then Light?

In the Centauri Republic fact book start on page 95 in the Centauri history section and it describes how a faster then light ship was salvaged and put to use by the Centauri. In the Minbari Factbook look on page 22 the Star Born subrace it describes how in there isolation they have mastered FTL eng...

Thanks. Still, what I'm really wondering is if there are any entire civilisations of machine intelligence out there? On the whole, it seems to be a direction that's been avoided in the B5 universe. Unless, are any of the Ancients in fact a form of machine intelligence?

Machine Intelligences

Quick question here:

In the B5 Universe, are there any reported machine intelligences out there? AI seems to be a somewhat neglected field of research . . .

Your guess is as good as mine, but I would wager the centauri Republic (Lion of the galaxy and all that) would use a more poetic / less pragmatic naming convention for new systems. From there, you could try to find a Centauri sounding name (doh!), something like (from the top of my sleepy head) : D...

Centauri Name for Unexplored System

Just a little something from a short game I'm currently running: what name would the Centauri give to an unexplored system? The Earth survey team that originally mapped it in 2255 gave it the prosaic name of system 2255/1157-7 (denoting that it was the 7th system surveyed in 2255 by the EarthForce s...

Re: Station plans online release?

I'm wondering whether the guys at Mongoose would consider releasing the station plan on pp.108-109 of the main rulebook online. Much of the info is lost in the book's spine, and it would be handy to have a complete one, both for GM reference and for showing to players. Would anybody else be interes...

OK, so I'm indulging in thread necromancy here (well, it's only been dead for a few weeks) . . . Anyway, a thought suddenly strikes me about the post listing above: who is in control of the Hyperion's guns? (On a related note, what skills or feats do you need to command a capital ship's weapons?) Or...

3. Telepathic Feats would be based on PSI Rating - not level based. "I have the prerequisites to be a Psi Cop, I just need to be high enought level so that I can do a Deep Scan" :? Or you could put it this way: "I'm in training to be a Psi Cop. No, I haven't learned how to do a Deep Scan yet; my in...

This is correct. I have Ships of the Fleet open in front of me and the Hyperion does indeed carry 6 starfuries and 2 shuttles. Hmm. Perhaps my friend was thinking of another ship entirely? Slight aside: according to another friend, if you actually do a frame by frame count of the number of fighters...

Hyperion Carrying StarFuries?

A quick question of canon here: I was speaking to one of my players for an upcoming B5 game last night, and he commented that he didn't think that the Hyperion cruiser carried any Starfuries (he's an old B5 Wars fan, I think). Now, the RPG write-up (main rulebook and EA sourcebook) both give the Hyp...

Thanks, that was what I was looking for. Any idea what sort of level they would all be? Also, would the Non-Coms be more likely to be Officer class or Worker class (with the appropriate specialisation from the revised Worker rules)? Similarly, would the technical personnel be more likely to be Worke...

There are many things that need to be reconsidered for player characters to accurately portray Telepath characters on the show. There should just be classes that characters can play based on their P-level, not the other way around. Commercial Telepath: P5 min. Class Starting Feats: Mind Shield, Sur...

Posts on Hyperion Cruiser

What posts does anyone think the crew of a Hyperion Cruiser would fill? The EA Sourcebook lists the crew as being 4 officers, 10 pilots, 12 sensor operators, and 38 crewmen, but what do they actually *do*? What duties would a PC onboard a Hyperion be likely to have? For that matter, what sort of lev...

I concur, Sidney! And in the effort to grant a suggestion. The B5 universe always had something up its sleeve. It never told you the whole story until you where in the thick of things and then it jumped out at you, making you go AH-HA! Thats the reason for all the issues of the past. So give all yo...

At least while clothed, Centauri and human female look almost eactly alike. The Centauri wears a wig, the human shaves her head. A close examination might pick out differences in the teeth, but the Centauri females are much more similar than the males. The biggest problem is going to be more social...

Re: Cenaturi Noble Weapons Known

How about giving them melee weapon proficiency at the cost of losing an existing proficiency? (Pistol weapons I guess) Hmm. I'd already considered that, and I don't think that would be at-all unbalancing, but I'm really wondering if there's a way of squeezing in Coutari and pistols proficiency with...

OK. Thanks. I don;t know if anyone in my game'll use it, but it'd be useful to have there.

Well, that goes without saying.

Of course, a Human disguising themselves as a Centauri would likely find it more difficult. Especially if they're male.
