Re: High Guard 2e Ship Design Spreadsheet v1.1 (Google Docs)

I have never had the need to work in Google sheets before. I only just found out after another quick perusal there is an inbuilt version tracking. Taking over another persons build, without adequate documentation, can be fraught with its own problems. I have only just come back from hiatus from MgTr...

Re: MgT HG 2e Special Fuel Tanks (Collapsible, Demountable, Drop Tanks)

A type of fuel tank feature I'd like to see is an easy-convert fuel tank: - Like a collapsible tank, it can be stowed to allow most of its space to be used for cargo. - But like a demountable tank, it can be used directly as jump fuel, rather than requiring a pumping from a collapsible tank into ma...

Re: High Guard 2e Ship Design Spreadsheet v1.1 (Google Docs)

Hi PDT I've had a quick glance at the sheet. Nice job, especially considering this is your first foray into spread sheets. I have considerable experience in Excel. I'm hoping I can help you with the conversion download to excel problem when I have a little time. Or any other formula problems if you ...

Re: Anti-gravity <> anti-mass

We discussed this before. I decided Grav Vehicles (as opposed to ships) puttered out in geosynchronous orbit. It's easier that way.

Spaceships, well that's a different story...

Re: Sandcastors with no sand?

On that note, what military ship in the real world has such small holds? I get that food etc is subsumed into the general dTons of staterooms etc, but you still need holds on ships for other cargo, even if your ship is purely military, and tended by backup lines of supply. You may still need to carr...

Re: Cheap ships, expensive to run.

Think of it like this: The big freighters are like our ships at sea. The little guys are like our semi-trailers (I don't know what you call them in your country, lorries in britain, or big rigs in US?) Some are new and special and being bought by mid sized companies and leased, or flown by employees...

Re: The Lone Starport

IMTU, they are called "Fuel Stars", and there is a corporation that operate not just stations in an empty hex, but stations around gas giants. This. If it's not this, there's a good chance there's a mum and pop store trying to eek out an existence on some of the routes. Think about it. If the econo...

Sandcastors with no sand?

In trillion credit squadron there are many ships with sandcasters but no Tons allocated to sand barrels. Sure some of them have cargo holds capable of holding enough sand, but others do not. e.g. Aeolus pg 63 Arges pg 86 Gygess pg 81 I'm sure there are more, but you get the gist. A standard load out...

Re: Passive IR detection ranges TL 7

Correct me if I'm wrong, but thermodynamics doesn't work at the subatomic scales, You're partially wrong. Thermodynamics ALWAYS manifests at the macro scale, no matter what happens on the subatomic scale. You're coming at it backwards. The equations of thermodynamics describe and fairly accurately ...

Re: Passive IR detection ranges TL 7

Correct me if I'm wrong, but thermodynamics doesn't work at the subatomic scales, so maybe it's using something other than one specific subset of current Physics.

Remember physics is only a description of a certain subset of what we can detect and explain with mathematics.

Yet the example given of the turret drone has a powerplant that supports 0 energy weapons, and has a rail gun. And of course, the actual page 61 description curiously omits railguns from the description making it clear that Rail guns can be mounted. Without specifically checking, you'd have to say ...
