Re: Sector Creation

I rolled up a subsector by hand and drew the map all out, having seperate sheets to note the UWP... I then decided which was the capitol system by how much of a hub a system seemed and wrote about how trade worked with the worlds... It was days of work and me and my friend (yep, singular) never got ...

Re: Core Rules extension for Hulls, Drives, and Power Plants

This seems the best time to ask this question; Have we got official Mongoose ruling on spin habs and how to deckplan them yet? That there are no real spinhabs in the Core or High Guard erks me some when we have the rules for creating ships before grav came in...

Help with ship building;Plant TLs

Just a quick post looking for advice on Power-Plant TLs... My main plan is to build a small craft constructed by a TL7-8 society in their C-class Starport and I wanted to keep with things at this TL point that are grounded with things we have today. In effect I'm modding the Antique Shuttle from Hig...

Traveller 'Stat Yourself' page

As the thread title says, I'm looking for this old page that you could use to answer questions about yourself and find out what stats along Str,Dex,Sta,Int,Edu and Soc you would place yourself to effectively make a Trav character based off your own abilities. It had basic strength and dexterity test...

Re: [Secrets of the Ancients] Additional reading?

I may end up running Secrets of the Ancients myself at some point, but before that some smaller pregen adventures would be cool... But of course I want to keep the PCs close by so they don't have to multi-Jump into me kicking off the campaign... So, what pregen adventures would be recommended as ope...

Re: Scout: Cartography, orbits help

I was sleepy last night, so thanks for not clapping me round the back of the head for saying to look up the Sun's diameter and x100 to find it's actual Jump Shadow ;) (about 139.2684 billion metres, a little under one AU). At least math-wise I was able to see Earth is not in the Sun's Jump Shadow an...

Re: Trojan Reach: Hierate/Imperium Trade Route ... why not E

Poor worlds are still okay for picking up passengers, its not the most ideal place clearly as they hold that -2 penalty but that can be countered depending on your next destination... A High Pop world averages out to a +2 with Pop value to find available passengers for example. There are many, many ...

Re: Scout: Cartography, orbits help

@Jeraa; Thanks for the advice on the second point... However, in my Trav Core, it says GGs are common and as such 10+ rolls mean there are no GGs in the system. I guess I'll ignore that rule that states to stop placing GGs if you run out of the number set and act as if there can be any number of GGs...

Scout: Cartography, orbits help

Hey there, its been a while :D Recently, I've been getting back into a Traveller mood and I've managed to snag Scout, being I wanted to go for an Explorer/Survey feel for my new game/character... Also I can finally put to use the cartography rules I've been really wanting to take for a spin :) Anywa...

Re: Human Tolerance for Gs

Well, I'm working with making a ship (or two) with reaction manouvre drives and using fission power plants (no fusion for this game, thanks...) and I'm looking at a timeline of the 2070s, where there is work being done on colonies in the Outer system, but for now I've come up with a workable ship th...

Re: Human Tolerance for Gs

Ok, so I came up with that a ship could get to Mars on 2G in a month by accelerating for roughly 24.5 minutes for the accel and again to deccel at the end of the trip. That means of course that a ship could also do it in 4G for 12 minutes and 15 seconds, though as discussed that strikes me as being ...

Re: Human Tolerance for Gs

Fair point about managing thrust, doing lower Gs for longer. I came up with some basic space math using rough approximations and I came up with it taking just under 10 minutes of accel at 5G to reach a velocity to drift to Mars in a month. I do not think 5G accel for that length of time is a good th...

Re: Human Tolerance for Gs

Actual question would be; How long could one accelerate/deccel at continual G (from continual 2 to continual 4) before horrible side-effects come in? (So my low-tech space-craft aren't killer rockets) -- To be honest from what has been said here, it seems like if the astronauts are horizontally posi...

Re: Human Tolerance for Gs

Of course when I mention the gel in Grav-couches, thats a trope of the Chthonian Stars setting. One would assume that the Grav-couch user has a breathing apparatus and due to being placed in there in a week (in a setting with zero types of stasis) they're going to be feeding tubes and the such. The ...

Re: Human Tolerance for Gs

No, I'm using reaction drives, so acceleration/deccel would be for a short time, then the ship would drift at a set velocity. There is no way a shuttle in a low tech setting could accelerate for days on end with the reaction drive (from High Guard incase some here haven't got that supplement). The s...

Re: Human Tolerance for Gs

I looked through the pdf and it seems Grey Out is the biggest risk when it comes to something like that. Still, I need a better read-through of the document and hopefully gain a better understanding. Loss of vision for a period of time is a pretty big thing unless a computer has been plotted with a ...

Human Tolerance for Gs

Hi there, its been a while! :D I've been debating on creating a rather hard scifi ATU Traveller game based around the colonisation of Mars, based on the success of a moon base being set up. The game is going to be set around the 2050s. Now, I wanted to build up new ships with reaction drives, someth...

Re: Zero's new Chthonian Stars ship

After many different returns to the drawing board, I have decided it is nigh impossible to make a trip as stated before to make a steady profit on it's own merit. Instead, I shall be producing some varients on the original Zero class here to show different models of the above ship for inner system f...

Re: Zero's new Chthonian Stars ship

Well, after some time away at the draft's board, its becoming a wonder if the Saturn Project ship can become a reality. The 100dton design is becoming very basic in it's design with many of the inner system trade vessel's features stripped or just fully replaced to be able to turn profitable results...

Re: Zero's new Chthonian Stars ship

I am removing Self-sealing armour, it seems a waste of a whole MCr that could be placed into other more useful things. Also the planned ability for the ship to be able to enter an atmosphere will have be knocked on the head, Heat Shielding for the ship at 100dtons costs 10 MCr, which is alot of cash...
