Re: Terrain pics-More Asteroids, dust clouds and a comet

Come fall look around for oversized Christmas ornaments. I've got a 6" ball I scavenged from when I worked retail I'm planning on doing some light putty work to clean up the surface of and paint as a gas giant. I bet you could find one up to a foot if you looked hard enough. Also those stupid lookin...

Re: Asteroids - more terrain making

I'll admit I picked up lava rocks from a local fast food joint. Seriously. Find a place that is landscaped with lava rocks and don't go overboard. As my mother once told me, "More than a handful is too much." edit - how did you get the bases to attach? I've always found them too crumbly to adhere an...

Re: Resin to Metal - 'Ave Pics!

Yeah, the Bismark is metal. What tipped me off was the difference in the mold line on the saucer edge; the metal version lacks the fine lip the two resin ones have. I prefer it.

The Habakkuk is actually in S&P 74. A mere 1200 Damage. I keep thinking I should get one - Figurehead makes a 1:6000 model. :D

When you say you've seperated out hypotheticals, are you talking only about the Z-plan, or are other nation's hypotheticals (e.g. Montana-class BB) included as well?

The Americans and British wargamed it together? For the potential opponents, that shows a very different view of the world. More gentlemanly, perhaps.

Re: Lets talk Gorn

So as an interested bystander - I've a friend who's waiting on the rules, and will probably start if I like them - how can this be resolved? Can [should] it? Is there a somewhat quantifiable effect that can be included if neccessary? Modification to the total hull points would be easiest, but a chan...

Re: Torpedo Questions

As I understand it, as long as it is in range at firing, it doesn't matter. The torpedo counter moves with the ship until it hits if the range is over 10".

Re: VAS vs other rules...

I've no experience with other rulesets, but I understand that VaS is among the more streamlined sets, with (I think) General Quarters being among the most detailed. Thus VaS is well suited to fleet actions, while other rules might be better for skirmishes or ship on ship combat.

Re: VaS 2.0 confirmed!

Yeah, that shows a four to one disparity in industrial capacity in the US's favor. Not the ten to one we enjoyed over the Japanese, but still significant. I do wonder how airpower and submarines would have developed in a different environment to WWII, which had some fairly unique advantages for them...

Re: basing 1/2400 aircraft and the CV Aquila

A flight of two is fine. You could do singletons, but I think two is more stylish. They'd need to be on something small, I think the aircraft counters in VaS are 1" x 1" (?).

addendum - interesting info, msprange. This will be required, or simply how the aircraft alotment is calculated?

Re: Mongoose minis for VAS?

Fair enough. I should clarify perhaps. GHQ has seperate components for every main turret, each aircraft , and many cranes, catapults, and antennae. Unless you're investing in metal components, many of these would be prone to breakage or miscast from flow problems in resin. It allows for a degree of ...

Re: Mongoose minis for VAS?

I understand the advantages of having a unique scale for minis (captive audience), but I dislike the idea as a consumer, especially for largish scales. I was able to get a ton of 1:6000 Figurehead ships because they were cheap, but now my local (only 1500 miles) source is closed and I need to go acr...
