Dilgar are going to be savage in any planetary assault scenario. One of the two fleets with mass drivers, and the Dilgar get them free; they also get dedicated orbital weapons and assault ships with plenty of troops, even one that's atmospheric at skirmish level. You'll have to work hard to stop a ...

It's not that they're the next best thing vs capital ships? They do have heavier weapon systems, but their primary advantage is their immunity (if used correctly) to A-F fire. They also have advantages in Planetary Assault. Any fighters can attack ships, as ever, these are simply better at it - but...

On a side-related note... just how powerful are the new anti-ship fighters (including the thoruntorpedo)? Just a slight improvement over the standard fighter or a cruiser's nemesis? Their primary advantage is they have weapons with ranges greater than 2" - 2" being the range of the Anti-Fighter Tra...

My postie puts 'em in the shed. I've got him trained. :D If you speak to your local Postmaster you can sign a waver to have all mail that would otherwise be returned to the depot (even those bits that should be signed for) left in a safe place or with a neighbour, etc. That's what I have arranged. ...

Whitestars were designed to kill Shadow Ships. If you find they win all the time, then they're working properly. Unfortunately Shadow actually kill Whitestars a hell of a lot better, need I mention the DD/AF trait that the Shadow Scout has in its maw! Scouts, yes. We don't see a whole lot of hot Sc...

Sorry could you repeat that please. One turn and double speed? Where is that. We thought a serious problem was that the shadows were all really really slow. He's right. Look at the Shadow version of Superb Maneouverability, it's different - they can make a single turn up to 90 degrees, then move at...

"Hey, the maximum damage potential of a beam is infinite!" "Don't be silly" "Well what if I keep rolling sixes forever then?" "Oh yeah you're right" Slightly more involved... my contribution was a regular opponent who would roll Beam rerolls ludicrously well - but only when playing Minbari! To the ...

I remember my former boss at GW arguing that he didn't like the randomness of dice rolls, they were unfair. He wanted the game to be run more on "averages" This was, of course, the idea behind Average Dice - 6-sided dice with no 1 or 6 - which used to be the rule for wargaming. SOME randomn...

not really high AD ones need to all hit to get those multiple chances of crits, whereas a low AD TD weapon would get 3 chances of crits from every single hit. Which is, statistically, exactly the same chance, once you hit ... This idea does increase the number of potential crits from successful hit...

And this change wouldn't alter people's perception would it? Double Damage means you roll double the damage dice... surely that is just as scary as rolling the same number of hits but doubling the damage values? The real issue with Double Damage is the 6-6 crit (and the like), not just crits in gen...

It is an interesting option. Most complaints about damage multipliers are from people saying they're too nasty. I agree fully that more AD = more crits = nastier, but I think people will see this as the lesser option. Worth a thought. I can't see it in 2ed though, we are too far into playtesting to ...
