Re: Ley Lines

Good thoughts. I put ley lines on my maps, but hadn't taken them to the level of detail you all have. Thanks. One thing I DID do was associate each ley with a rune. That way the effects associated with the line were consistent with the type of line. So your trains might run only on Movement Rune ley...

Re: Organising the game...

We have a standing Friday game, but revolving/evolving set of GMs. It's at a game store, so the owner sorta keeps track of who is coming, but doesn't have a lot of time to spend on it. When I'm running, I just call up that afternoon to find out how many players I have, and who they are likely to be....

Agreed. I just thought I'd better clarify when I saw a "Huh?" and a +1.

Re: Weapon Specific Combat Maneuvers question

This is one of the areas that I think Legend is poorly described. The rules don't clearly lay out which CMs are only usable by certain weapons (with those CMs listed in the weapon table) and which CMs are usable by any weapon (so are not listed in the weapon table because they are always usable). H...

Re: (Mixster: don't read this!) Some adventure design help

Mistaken identity.... I don't know about the sophistication of your gaming group, but the problem with red herrings in general is that they can send a story sideways for an extended period. Players sometimes latch on to the silliest things, thinking that's where the adventure actually lies. In othe...

...However, all the areas found in Denmark from the bronze age, have persistent small handles - much smaller than the hands of the people we have found in graves (we have some very, very well-preserved corpses in Denmark.. and their hands are bigger than the sword handle). The same seems to be true...

Re: DTRPG POD

Yeah, you really have to dig to find the pod blogs. I found the one for Lightning Source (relatively distinctive for search) but didn't have patience to wade through the search results to find the DriveThruRPG one.

Can anyone provide a direct link?

Re: Equipment in Legend

Of those choices, I also like the paragraph format.

But I vastly prefer a summary table that has name, short description, price and little else. Then a set of description paragraphs follow that. 90% of the time the table has everything you need, and you can copy it as a handout.

Re: Hit Location Tables in Arcania of Legend: Blood Magic

One of the RQ versions (3 I think) introduced the %-of-total calculation for hit location points. I've always thought it was a good way to go, but I'm pretty comfortable with math. It's not something that you typically have to calculate at the table, so I see it as benign math. :) So, my vote would ...

Re: Swallowing Prey

We need to start a thread for Monster Traits. If I ever get clear of work, I'll go ahead. I would think this would make a great trait, something like, "Swallow Whole" along with spot rules for it.

...BTW, one my friend ordered in the Core book with the colour cover, it's not that bad IMO. I wonder how the two covers are selling relative to each other. Can anyone at Mongoose confirm? I'm curious if the readers of this forum (who overpoweringly disliked the color version) represent the market ...

Re: Vikings of Legend - Now Shipping!

Just got my review copy of the PDF - lord almighty but that's a thick tome of information. For all that there are disclaimers that the book isn't a scholarly work, it's very, very thorough. You could play viking-themed gams exclusively for years out of this book alone. Having only just given it the...

Re: Arcania of Legend: Blood Magic - PDF Now Available

How does Mongoose's Bits and Mortar work? I wait for it to show up on leisure games web site's list of new releases That seems to be a Leisure-Games only thing. Typically Bits and Mortar is applied to games where the publisher offers a "PDF + Dead Tree" combo from their online store. To my knowledg...

Re: Leatherbound Legend Hardcovers: Pretty please?!?! :)

I have both the physical and pdf version of Legend, and both are easy to read. I'm especially happy with how the pdf looks on my Kindle -- the larger format RQII was always difficult to move around in. With Legend I can move down the page.

Re: A Dead Man's Magic ?

I'd have items stay enchanted, but also keep the enchanter's spirit stay tied / chained to the item. It would be difficult for the mage to move on to the next life (or whatever) as long as the item stayed enchanted. So a mage that knows he will die soon might try to gather his items together so that...

Re: astronomy

As for Astronomy - I think how you use it rather depends on what the heavenly bodies are in your setting. Using it as a mundane/non magical skill presupposes the subject of study is itself mundane and entirely predictable. Since the dawn of the study of astronomy, it has been considered the very ep...
