Re: Entry-Level Game

It sounds like you're on a good track. A couple of thoughts: Skills would be fairly easy to pare down. Though I like many of the Common Skills and consider the list pretty solid, I could see how you could chop off a few. I would definitely remove Advanced Skills altogether, or narrow them down to a ...

Re: Cepheus Engine

Are there any plans for the Cepheus Engine to be released as a full product with interior artwork, etc.? Or will it remain as a reference document?

Deus Vult questions

I've been out of touch with Mongoose Publishing products for a year or two, and had a couple questions about the current Deus Vult line. Are any of the releases available in print? Core books, supplements? If so, are they digest sized? Are the Sacerdos Custos Training Guide and the Games Master's St...

I'm seeing it on the Cthonian Stars thread below, specifically in a post made by Zero.

EDIT: Definitely an issue related to the avatar that Zero is using.

Well, Xoth Publishing released XP2: Song of the Beast-Gods pretty recently.

That is excellent news! I'm a huge fan of Xoth Publishing's material, especially the Spider God's Bride material. (Sword & Sorcery done right, in my opinion). In fact, I wrote my own conversion of SGB to use MRQ2 and ran a campaign a few months back for my gaming group. It worked really well - it wa...

Gotcha. That's a more standard format. For some reason Amazon has a different size listed.

What was the reasoning behind altering the printing format of RQ2 for Wayfarer? Will Wayfarer supplements follow the same formatting?

I'm not that familiar with the Lone Wolf rpg, and it took some digging on Amazon to determine that its "half-size" is roughly 8" x 8". Rather unusual.

It's a relief to know that the game system will live on in another format. Gloranthaphiles may curse me - but I look forward to a version of the rules that is decoupled from that setting. It's strong enough to stand on its own, IMO.

Bleed-ing out

In my last campaign, my gaming group encountered a little problem with the Bleed combat maneuver. During a combat, an opponent slashed a character with a scimitar, was effective enough to get a combat maneuver (Bleed, in this case), and the damage penetrated armor. The character subsequently failed ...

This was one of the few rpg supplements/settings I was looking forward to this year. Hopefully it sees the light of day in some form.

GM Utilities

Hello. I'm curious if there's a listing of fan-created GM utilities for MRQII. Mongoose's character sheet and combat maneuver sheet are nice, but I can think of a number of other helpful aids to newbie RQII GMs and players. (Perhaps, a skill listing, core book equipment list, or reference aids for c...

Sure, stacktrace . Below are a few rough examples. The Sacred Flame The Zadjites worship a nameless elemental god, the Sacred Flame, above all other gods. The priests tend ever-burning fires in their marble temples. Fire is considered pure; both the dead and the unbelievers are cast into the flames ...

Starting an MRQ2 campaign

So, next week, I'm starting an MRQ2 campaign for my gaming group. Hurray! The cycle of GMing has worked its way around to being my turn, so we start with chargen on Monday. I talked about this campaign in a post I made a few months ago. It's basically a sword & sorcery-themed campaign with a few sma...

I made a deal with one of my players that generated a Civilized Noble Warrior. Rather than roll and risk either extreme (the barely-there, Soft Leather, or the seriously-encumbering Plate), I let him choose a midpoint of a suit of AP3.

Noble possessions

Hello. I need some clarification on the possessions the Noble occupation gains during chargen. In that section in the Core, where it lists an heirloom weapon, fancy clothing, jewelry, etc., the Noble can choose to take armor protecting d6 armor points. Is that a full suit of armor with each location...

Not to be rude - but, has any one picked up Empires and gotten an impression of how the editing is, as well as how well it was converted from MRQ1 to MRQ2? As much as I enjoy my copies of the Core book and Monster Colosseum, I'm hesitant to buy any further products until it's confirmed that the qual...
