Re: Starship combat cheat sheet & Questions?

Finally for Damage Control, it says it requires a Mechanic roll to repair ship systems and hits. But Engineering also says it can be used to repair starships- do you let Damage Control people use either skill? We try to specialize it a bit - hull damage = Mechanic check, drive damage = Eng (drive) ...

Re: Good ship for Vargr pirates?

I'm thinking of a small fighter swarm might be a useful challenge - What would a good base ship be? That's a great idea... a little more work than a one-on-one battle but likely a lot more fun. Check out the Khoghue Armed Junker from Merchants & Cruisers. IIRC it was in S&P too though I'm having tr...

Re: Info on Bwaps

http://stellarreaches.nwgamers.org/issues/ I don't remember which issues but the Stellar Reaches fanzine had quite a bit of info on the Bwaps, centered on the Empty Quarter sector, trailing-core of the capital of the Imperium. ISTR this is the area the Bwaps came from but I could be totally wrong ab...

Re: Space Stations - What's the use of Docking Arms?

There's a 10 ton Maintenance Pod in High Guard, page 93 - crew of one in a cockpit, grappling arm, not much else - 1.5 meter deck height, pretty cramped!

Re: Space Stations - What's the use of Docking Arms?

IMTU I have a few things to handle this: Airlock: Standard airlock we know and love, allows 2 people abreast and 1dton containers. Opens directly to space/atmo. Cargo Lock: Standard airlock in a cargo hold, allow up to 10 dton vehicles, 5 people abreast, shipping containers up to 30 dtons (passing t...

Map Fonts?

Anyone know which font Mongoose is using for their basic subsector map? Been trying different sites like 'What's my Font' but no luck. Any help appreciated.

cheers

Voted for 'Citizen' - recalls the CT title, but remains generic. I do like the suggestion of "A life less ordinary..." for the subtitle!

Re: Robotic ships

In the 3I canon a terrorist organization used a robot as a bomb at a diplomatic conference. Thus the Shudusham Concords, which explain why the 3I has a distrust of and laws against AI and automation.

Re: Additional attack actions?

I have always made each additional target in a combat round suffer a cumulative DM-1 to hit, in addition to everything else. So if you "go faster" as mr3 pointed out above you suffer DM-1 to hit Thug 1, DM-2 to hit Thug 2 and DM-3 to hit Thug 3. I also apply this to auto fire if the additional targe...

CT Supplement 4 Citizens of the Imperium had pirates as a career choice for players, right next to Belters. First two career choices in the book.

Gun Combat (personal/civilian): Covers most pistols, shotguns and possibly SMGs/PDWs. Gun Combat (military): Rifles, MGs, higher tech things and possibly SMGs/PDWs. Heavy Weapons (man portable): To include existing man portable (FGMP/PGMP, etc), launchers and flamethrowers Heavy Weapons (artillery)...

Re: Shoot the tyres! Destroy the turret! Headshot!

Tried this for a while (similar to an idea mentioned up-thread) Effect of to hit roll : Location (vehicles) 0: graze of arm/leg (fender/cowling/bumper) +1: graze of torso (lights/sensors) +2: arm or leg (grill/engine - reduce speed 10%) +3: deep arm or leg (window/viewport - reduce agility by 1, mak...

Re: Spica career books - any reviews?

I really like the Spica books, I use them for key and mid-level NPCs and options like Chancer (gamblers and such) and Cosmonaut (spacer roustabouts and repairmen) can give PCs a term or two of background flavor that is unique and a couple skills they may not otherwise have gotten. Also the careers t...

Re: Traveller for Pulp Space Opera

I was wondering if anyone had experimented with shorter terms to explain how someone might "race through the ranks" as it were. Since you're talking exceptional characters like Kirk and Skywalker, you could try a (player's choice) negative DM to survival that allows additional advancement rolls. Fo...

Re: T5 available in UK

If you didn't buy in already, save your money, at least for now. Lots of problems, unless you like taking rules apart and rebuilding them... there's a lot to like in T5 but it's not a game yet, IMHO, more like a simmering pot of sci-fi awesomeness waiting for the right spice to make it palatable. No...

Re: Future Traveller - Suggestions Appreciated

I understand the distraction element of various devices but I think some generators could be quite helpful in an electronic environment - PCs and NPCs, but also vehicles, small carft and starships and especially world and system generation could really profit from app-based generators.
