Re: Getting rid of negative Quirks in spacecraft

Referees shouldn't quirk a ship if Travellers are trying to win the game.

Re: Another stellar navigation question:

Stick one planet where Earth is. Stick one red dwarf where Saturn is. And stick the other red dwarf where Neptune is. Treat the orbiting stuff around the red dwarves as rings and moons.

Anything more "realistic" than that, the players won't give any "F"s about.

Re: Adventures In the Perseus Cluster

I stumbled across an article on the Perseus Cluster - a collection of thousands of galaxies surrounding a black hole, with the space between stars filled with interstellar gases heated to millions of deg C. It got me thinking - how would that influence life? Could life even exist in an environment ...

So a 100 diameter boundary around a planet isn't a fixed point, but rather a very large globe surrounding the planet. How do you treat this in your games?
As masked-off areas on a system map that ships cannot jump through. Travellers with high Astrogation skills avoid them.

Re: untested house rule

I don't balance anything for my games. Players either want to role-play the character they have, or they make a new one they might like better. Task checks are not binary pass-fail-only in my games. Any character will work in my games.

It's kind of like "the higher they are, the farther they fall", rather than "everyone falls the same distance no matter what their height."

Re: What size ships

I'm toying with the idea of running a 1-off none-stop 24 Traveller Adventure that hopefully will be done with friends and if we get enough backers raise cash for charity too Can you please come up with ideas for number and types of Naval Ships for The Pcs to lead and have at least a 50/50 chance of...

I may do a version 3 of the Scout, while learning a new modeling app I bought but haven't fired up yet.

Re: Rat Trap

If the case was discovered during an explore of an abandoned vessel or asteroid base, and brought onboard the player ship, there needs to be just a hint of clues as to what may have killed the crew that had the case. Not in-your-face-clues, of course.

In the 57th century an Imperial BatRon of Tigresses will certainly strike fear in its neighbours, but there is a reason the Imperium holds its rider BatRons in reserve to annihilate the opposition.
Three of those in orbit will die-back a world, as written in a certain novel.

Re: Great White Fleets... in spaaaayyyccceeee!

There is a discussion going on the Facebook Traveller RPG group about what the optimal capital ship size is, and in the comments it was tossed out about what size ship makes for a good showing of the flag. Which is a valid point since if you have a mighty 500,000dton warship vs the local 10k dton s...

I just leave things as is. Humans and Aslan are alien to each other. Not everything between them is understandable. No anthropomorphism of any kind.
