Re: Sword Worlds - ebook & Pre-Order

So far my only criticism is that the book lacks a "Creating Sword World Travellers" blurb, such as the Darrian entry in Behind the Claw. What is provided is pretty cool and I will definitely use, I just think a one page summary of Core careers and their Swordie equivalents would have been nice. I'l...

I see, thanks. Aside from it’s historical value, is the book good? Worth a read?
The book's story is much better than its historical value.

Re: Sword Worlds - ebook & Pre-Order

I haven’t read through the entire book yet, and I’m unfamiliar with Star Viking so I can’t really help there (yet), but from what I’ve seen so far the new book places less emphasis on sword-toting techno-barbarians. The Space Viking novel is where The Sword Worlds come from. The novel put Feudal Te...

Re: Sword Worlds - ebook & Pre-Order

What's the feel of the rules, compared to previous writings? GURPS-like? MgT1-like? Is it closer to Traveller (Space Viking novel) or closer to Star Wars (rebels against the Empire)? Is there chargen?

Re: Higher tech items on a lower tech world

Just a question for the hivemind. In your traveller games do you have government groups equipped with higher tech items? Imagine a TL 5 world that is close to a higher tech world. I could see the military from the TL 5 world heading off to the higher tech world to buy high tech body armour to prote...

Playing an Aslan in the Hierate proper is about as appealing to me as a campaign in Core or Massilia. Things are too settled there. The fun is out on the frontier.
Like how today's Earth is settled.

There's lots going on with that world, in case you haven't been paying attention.

Re: Advantages of keeping SOC as is?

I've looked at some past comments on the subject, and it seems like there are a lot of people who don't like Social Status as a primary Characteristic. I'm inclined to agree. It seems that social status is highly context-dependent, and it wouldn't come into play if you were using an assumed identit...

Re: A puzzling announcement, but one nevertheless likely to be of interest here...

I am "on" the Baen Books discussion forums. They have a section/conference/ newsgroup/area set aside specifically for announcing Electronic Advance Reader Copies ("eARCs") of forthcoming titles. Today, 4 August 2020, in that area, I found the following: Hi folks, Marc Miller's Agent of the Imperium...

Crew members turn to mush during jump? I'm guessing jump has been messed with too in your setting.

Re: New Era, how accurate?

I’m new and frantic about Traveller’s lore. I read In several sources (Wiki Traveller for a start) that the New Era’s virus wasn’t everybody’s cup of tea. Some hard Traveller fans didn’t like it. I’m reading about the Long Night, right after the fall of the Rule of Man and I am confused: in the Mon...

Re: Ammunition tracking

I hate tracking ammunition. My players hate tracking ammunition. Some of my players are more conscientious that others about tracking their ammunition but they still don't like it. I really like the Ammunition Expenditure option on page 46-47 of the Compendium. Each weapon has an ammo threshold bas...

Re: Are Multiple Medic Checks Allowed?

Hello, MT2 forum... I am new to second edition rules and hoping to find some answers to a few questions ... Are multiple medic checks permitted when applying first aid or surgery? Core Rules indicate that First Aid must be initiated within one minute of the injury (p. 78) and that a First Aid check...

Just trying to picture in my head what this all looks like.
Government, culture, population, law level, tech level, religion, the far future, all take part in how everything should look about a world.

Time frames can be decided on to adjust the DM for a Task Check. The core rulebook is just a guideline. It states many times so.

Re: Random Starship Questions

I guess the GM could waive it How is the Referee thinking why a roll is being made a hand-wave? Anyway, the Referee still needs to come up with outcomes for the rolls. Is that hand-waving? The core rules have examples of difficulties to roll for. But has no outcomes. If it did, there'd be no need f...
