Traveller V2 Vehicle Combat ????

Can anyone explain to me how vehicle combat is meant to work in the V2 rules? Because it says that they function as the personnel combat rules which have 1 minor and 1 significant action per round. But if you have to spend the minor action keeping control and driving/flying and you spend the signifi...

Re: Mongoose Traveller - The New and current updated edition. What do you expect from this new line?

Yes definitely interested in a Travellers Aid Society book. It should really be part of a Third Imperium Source Book that is badly needed IMO as there is nothing published lately about the main source of gameplay for many people who play Traveller - its been a massive omission for many many years. I...

Referees Briefings

Are there any plans to incorporate all these into one printed document? I dont read pdfs but many of these articles look really great and I would love to see them inside a 'proper' book. Perhaps the Travellers Companion?

Re: Mongoose Traveller - The New and current updated edition. What do you expect from this new line?

..to continue what they are doing. More colour, more solid creative illustrations, more thought and better designs, less errors, far higher quality than the previous books. There are some things like the animals that I would like to see done better but overall the new line is growing on me and I am ...

Re: So. Where are the Aliens

I have never been really interested in the Traveller aliens Ive always thought they were more than a bit corny. But the more I read about them the more I find myself getting very interested to see the Traveller Companion if that is going to have them all in just to see what they are like. I havent b...

Re: High Guard Boarding Action Rules

I feel there is no way you could dock with a maneuvering ship IMO unless you are a pirate or specialist boarding ship with a specially designed piece of apparatus that will fully secure the ships before boarding takes place. And I am thinking large jaws or struts with shooting bolts into the enemies...

Re: Refereeing a climb down a cliff

Thanks everyone for your help it has cleared my mind. Especially the comments about being prepared when the roll fails - I do like the idea of having failed rolls mean some lesser consequence like being noticed by enemies or being delayed on the climb or taking a very long time to do the cliff etc r...

Refereeing a climb down a cliff

I have always been a bit shaky on refereeing things like obstacles or tasks that you want to be quite interesting for the players but not drag on too long but be more than a single throw. For example in my present game my player has come to a cliff and he needs to get down. Now obviously I could jus...

Re: Pre-Order the Traveller Starter Box Set

Not at that price - £50! That's very expensive especially when you consider the D&D Starter set is around £15 for similar content, and the Pathfinder Beginners Box is £32 with card tokens, dice set, adventures, rules and a re-usable map sheet. The Traveller Starter Set is really not going to get any...

Re: Testing the new rules - first NPC character

You can only either get a commission or a promotion in a term not both. So as it was the first term that he was commissioned in as an officer my own thinking is no he couldnt then try for a promotion to rank 2 in the first term. He should see that term out as Rank 1. I do enjoy the character generat...

Re: Lock Picking Skill?

Average mechanical skill check seems wrong to me should be higher. Locks have a purpose to stop people getting in. I suppose if its a high security lock it might get a boon to the roll as opposed to a standard lock. But still seems a bit strange.

Re: Art: Starship Grade Missiles/Torpedoes

I like the Vanes..... I have been toying with the idea of adding Vanes to all of my freeflight Grav vehicles... Yeah but vanes make sense in a atmosphere where they act as air brakes to change direction as they do on a plane. They make no sense in space where there is nothing for them to react with...

Re: Art: Starship Grade Missiles/Torpedoes

I would say the best use of the vanes would be for ortillery where they are shot out at the correct initial trajectory to the target and then the vanes are used for steering just like the laser guided munitions of today. That was the warhead can be kept to a maximum. But they serve no useful purpose...

Re: Art: Starship Grade Missiles/Torpedoes

I don't get the vanes surely direction would be altered by thrust vectoring much more effectively/rapidly. I cant see any way a tiny amount of gravity plate would be able to affect a missile's path very much over a few seconds of flight (if at all). They look neat but cant see them being practical i...

Re: Art: New project Heavy Cargo Ship WIP

I really like that. Well thought out visually and it looks like what it is. Visually the engines look a bit overpowering for the size and type of the ship are you sure they are sized correctly? But I love the overall look and feel of that ship.

Chair size on deckplans

Being an architect it constantly grates on me that everyone seems to show chairs too large on deckplans. When you look at the Highguard 2d deckplans for example ALL of the chairs are shown around 1m wide! Now I can almost believe that an acceleration couch could be that large although its pushing re...

Grand Tour of the Imperium

It is mentioned in the Core Rule Book but what has happened to the Grand Tour of the Imperium? I am not sure whether it sounds the kind of thing I would buy as it sounds, from the Core Rulebook speil, like its going to be a few disjointed unconnected historical trips rather than one large campaign. ...

Re: Advise?

This playing a difficult antisocial character is a really terrible idea. The whole point of playing a game like this is to get along with other people and in Traveller you have loads of other races. Wanting to play a character like that is silly and a bit strange. Seriously forget that idea and play...

Re: Significant Others In Traveller

Just got to look in Gamemastering http://www.gamemastering.info/ that has loads of advice for this sort of NPC and remember that the basic core game already has life events that can affect your other family members. But its certainly a good point that other Travellers whether NPCs or players could b...
