Cabin Space

In the new Core Rulebook, small craft have an entry labeled "Cabin Space" in Systems. Where is Cabin Space defined?

Re: New Edition of Traveller is Here!

I contacted DTRPG as directed above and referenced my original Order number when I purchased the Beta. Can be found in your order history. They sent me the link for discounted purchase right away.

Crew Duties

Issue: The CREW DUTIES list on p. 154 misses several important crew duties that could have a use in Space Combat. Reference: (NEWTRV_IPDATE_27.OCT) P. 154 lists the following crew: - Pilot - Captain - Engineer - Sensor Operator - Turret Gunner - Bay Gunner - Marine - Passenger But what about: - Astr...

Go Ahead and JUMP!

Issue: There are three rules for how an Engineer makes a Jump; they all don't align. References (All from NEWTRAV_UPDATE_27.OCT): p. 65 Chapter Two: SKILLS AND TASKS - Engineer - SPECIALTIES - J-Drive: "Making a Jump: Routine (6+) Engineer (J-drive) check (1Dx10 minutes, INT)" p. 148 Chapter Seven: ...

Re: Dogfighting

With 6 second combat rounds, does a fighter get to fire its pulse laser 60 times? I don't think the original question was answered...nor do I think it was it fully understood. I think the OP is asking, "When dogfighting, a ship gets 60x the number of combat actions; does this make sense?" In my opi...

Re: Modifiers and Range

Nowhere in my pdf does the word "operational" even exist so I don't see where the operational range concept is derived from. Spacecraft Weapons on p.157 which states "they cannot attack targets beyond their listed Range Band" seems pretty explicit to me. Taken together with the various weapon defini...

Re: Difficulty, Boon/Bane, and DMs

Which brings us back to the original question, does it serve a useful purpose that the original mechanic does not and should it be a core rule mechanic? The original task mechanic allowed you to prescribe DMs regarding these situations, and as you pointed out previously it's effectively the same as...

Re: Difficulty, Boon/Bane, and DMs

The more I consider it, I see Boon/Bane having four uses; three very specific and one more nebulous. 1. When changing Timeframes (p. 60) 2. When there are no relevant DMs to describe the exterior effect (requires an reinterpretation of p. 61) 3. When determining Initiative in Ambushes (p. 70) 4. Whe...

Re: Difficulty, Boon/Bane, and DMs

To be honest, I am wondering the same thing. For me, if I can't work out the impact of probabilities in dice rolls on the fly, I tend to regard things as a more complex ruling. If you look at Shawn's chart at http://shawndriscollrpg.blogspot.com/2012/10/an-alternate-die-roll-for-traveller.html then...

Re: Combat Jumps

My problem is deciding what should be "hard-wired" and what not. Throughout the rules, in order to change the Timeframe of a task, one uses Boon/Bane; except for combat jump ? Looking over the Skill List in Chapter 2, I see the following DMs: Astrogation - Plotting a Standard Jump: DM- equal to the ...

Re: Interaction of Boon/Bane and Task Difficulty

I am pretty sure the intent of Going Faster or Slower is to use Boon/Bane in relation to time but the wording hints at Task Difficulty. So to be clear, which is it? Fixing anything will have a difficulty of some kind. (2D roll is made) Now add being-rushed on top of things. (Bane roll is made inste...

Time to Repair Critical Hits

Under Actions Step - Repair System (Engineer) on p. 160 it states: A Traveller on engineer duty can attempt to repair the effects of a critical hit. This requires an Average (8+) Engineer check (1 round, INT or EDU) with a negative DM equal to the Severity of the critical hit. A cumulative DM+1 is g...

Re: Interaction of Boon/Bane and Task Difficulty

Here is another example of why I am having trouble fully understanding Boon/Bane and Task Difficulty: The rule "Going Faster or Slower" on p. 60 states: You can choose, before you roll, to move up or down one level on the Timeframes Table. Moving up one level (reducing the time increment) inflicts a...
