Re: The Prelude to Cataclysm Discussion
Heh, like I said before, in that situation as a Player the first thing I would have done is the Nuke Threat from On High.

Re: The Prelude to Cataclysm Discussion
Just tell everyone involved that the Capital Ship that has brought the negociation team has final orders of, "Nuke it from orbit, it's the only way to be sure... " :) Thats nice, given its a neutral world because the inhabitants have nothing to do with either side of the negotiation teams... :twist...

Re: Simulating hyper-intelligence
Another thing to keep in mind, and is sometimes so obvious it gets overlooked, an Alien Intelligence is just that, Alien. So, just because it is a Genius, doesn't mean that it is going to have a proper point of view to always think of EVERYTHING. As a GM, I'd leave some weakness open for the players...

Re: Accounting in Traveller
MEDICAL FEES During character creation a pc could lose stats caused by accident or aging. But from what I understand, a pc can always recover lost attributes for a $5000 fee per points. So essentially, lost attributes points are but a temporary fee? And again, how are medical facilities tracking No...

Re: Corsair Question
Yea, that's how I see it would happen. World A and B hate each other and so World A hires Merc Regiment Z to invade World B in the guise of helping out poor, oppressed Dissatisfied Faction B1 and make a "Change of Government." So Regiment Z ships in in a small convoy of Freighters and Chartered Line...

Re: Corsair Question
Imperial Rules of War are on page 176 of the MgT Mainbook. It only deals with warfare on a world. As a GM, I'd say that war between worlds would be stopped by the Imperium unless there was a real good political situation why it would be allowed.

Re: Robot Crewmen?
You can also give a Robot an Encyclopedia database, which basically gives it an Edu stat, higher Edu takes an increasing TL just like CA or PP.

Re: Robot Crewmen?
Yea, the Robots book expands on this. Basically Robots have either a Command Algorithm(CA) or a Personality Program(PP). CA is basically a program that interprets orders and carries them out, i.e. "Go fix that damage" or "Serve these drinks to the guests." The level of CA determines how detailed/com...

Re: Robot Crewmen?
Good post!
Also, the Robot book has Inhibitors, which can be the Laws of Robotics or can be anything specific that the designer wants, i.e. IFF Rules for Combat Bots. I'd expect some variation dealing Inhibitors that state somethingc about protecting the Owner's Ship, etc, etc...

Re: Corsair Question
In the OTU, war is permitted if it doesn't involved Nukes and/or doesn't stop Interstellar Trade. Sure, but is that only within the 100D? ...is my question. I'd say that depends on the local Subsector or Imperial Commanding Officer. Technically, probably not, if it wasn't bothering Trade Ships, but...

Yea, I posted the same thing over there. I cross posted it here because I know that not everyone visits both forums. This is how I'm leaning toward ruling it; In terms of game mechanics, I respectfully suggest that 'minimum crew' (from Mongoose Traveller) must be sophonts, both by regulation and pr...

Re: why have the Kizinti been neutered?
Just to point out that tracking drones as counters was tried out in playtesting. One playtest game reportedly had as many as 70 drones counters on the table. I was involved in that game. And coming from a 30+ year background of playing Kzin in SFB, the number of drones dodn't scare us. Tracking / m...

Just to point out that tracking drones as counters was tried out in playtesting. One playtest game reportedly had as many as 70 drones counters on the table. Yea, old hat for SFB Kzin players. I've played SFB with a fleet of Kzin ships firing 12+ drones each. It's not for everyone but for some runn...
