Re: Legend and Common magic: Who uses it?

Both sorcerers had grimoire skills higher than 70%, by casting Attract (Missiles) on a huge shield and a combination of Damage Enhancement and Damage Resistance across the party it meant that the opponents on a successful hit (hard enough already given the PC's combat styles being a good 20% higher...

Re: can I say hi here?

I note they also still have Blood of Orlanth for sale, which will require a bit of conversion, as it was written for MRQ1, but there are some good bits in that too.

Re: can I say hi here?

You can get the campaign packs Pavis Rising and Dara Happa Stirs, which were written for the MRQ2 rules (the immediate predecessor of Legend) at DriveThru for a buck each http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/index.php?&manufacturers_id=4057 They're set in Glorantha, which isn't everyone's cup of tea, but t...

Re: Doing my bit to mess with sorcerers

The sorcerer does not recover magic points until he successfully dismisses his spell. So the "duration" is how long the sorcerer has until he starts loosing additional magic points. The spell will literally suck the life out of him if he cannot end it. The less duration he provides, the faster it w...

Re: Doing my bit to mess with sorcerers

This is good stuff, and would make sense as a creation rationale in a world in which Vampires drain POW rather than CON or STR or any other variant.

Of course, there are plenty of power gamers who would like to have their Damage Resistance 8 have no set end point...

Re: A Legend City setting

So this is more of a traditional fantasy setting then? Personally, I'd love to see something like the old Judge's Guild City-State of the Invincible Overlord and City-State of the World Emperor for Legend - that'd be awesome. Most other D&D cities - including Waterdeep and Greyhawk - have left me a...

Re: Sorcery As Transgression

That's what makes sorcery so transgressive - they keep calling out the priests' scams, and the priests are disgruntled because they know that they're running a scam.
This isn't too far off the Malkioni belief in Glorantha - which is where the different treatment of sorcery began in RQ.

Re: The Spider God's Bride - Completely Revised

Awesome job, Mr the Wolf! One request for future publications. I love the tactics section, so perhaps some thought can be given to how sorcerers order their spells in combat or preparation. Also, the Combine manipulation can produce some awesome results, so it might be worth thinking about what a so...

Re: Need rules for a Succubus

I do recommend taking a look at the old Gateway Bestiary - classic monsters for the original RuneQuest II. There's a lot of good stuff in there, even if many years old.

Re: The Spider God's Bride - Adv: Jewel of Khadim Bey

I've been away from gaming for a while and thought I'd see if SGB had finally seen the light of day. I was dismayed to see the reviews but as equally delighted to see the quality of the work going in to fixing it. I might even pick up the PDF now so I can compare and contrast the presumably broken o...

Re: Rouen sourcebook?

I notice that both this book and The Hoffman Legacy for Deus Vult have vanished without a trace. This setting could really do with some support. Get them ready for publication and you'll get a couple of pre-orders from me right away. The Hoffman Legacy is available in PDF on Drivethru http://rpg.dr...

For all Elric fans

Legendary ROG artist Jeff Dee is running a Kickstarter project to recreate all his Elric illustrations from the first edition of TSR's Deities and Demigods, which were removed for the second edition for copyright reasons and then the originals thoughtlessly destroyed by a TSR functionary. Anyone who...

Great work - really good adaptation.

Re: Martial Arts in Legend?

For my own approach, I'm very wary about adding new sub-systems to the rules - I'm trying to work with the tools that are already available as much as possible. I understand that concern. My worry was that without the techniques, you end up with a very fancy way of doing D3 damage. And I did want t...

Re: Martial Arts in Legend?

I'd had a very similar idea to this. Here are my notes so far, yet to be finished, never mind fleshed out: Martial Arts Each Tradition or School teaches a Combat Style, the Martial Arts skills, probably a few other skills, and a variety of Techniques that help modify the Combat Style by adding Comba...

Re: Hit Location Tables in Arcania of Legend: Blood Magic

While I don't have an answer for your question, I would like to chime in and say how much I really dislike Hit Points by location. I like Hit Locations, just not Hit Points by location. IMO it adds a needless level of complexity/bookkeeping and other games (e.g. GURPS) have shown its fairly easy to...

RIP Firu ba Yeker.

The BRP maven Sandy Petersen put together a set of RQ3 rules for Tekumel, which should be adaptable to Legend with only a little work

They're available at the Tekumel site http://www.tekumel.com/downloads/RQtekumel.pdf

Re: Martial arts combat maneuvers

Yes, they were mine, with some input from my group. No idea why anyone would think they were Loz's. As noted, some of them were a bit crap. Break Neck, Slam Tackle, and Spin Kick aren't very good. Jump Kick works better with the "leap attack" addition, but it's still not great. Choke works well, and...
