Re: New Miniatures Compatible with Starline 2500 for ACTASF
Thanks, would be useful and the SFB ones were there as well. Shapeways has the advantage to me that they can print in Europe from the Eindhoven plant, which means both quicker delivery and taxes are so much easier to deal with. While taxes aren't an issue from the US so long as the goods are below 1...

Re: New Miniatures Compatible with Starline 2500 for ACTASF
Could I ask do you sell compatible bases, either at Shapeways or via the main ADB store?
I would be looking mostly for Call to Arms, but also possibly for gaming SFB on big hexes....
Thanks

Indeed, no matter how I try and try I cannot come up with any kind of plonker joke for this particular Rodney.

Yes, thanks - after spotting it in the pics I went to Starfleetgames and looked.
I was hoping it was all the Fed SSDs - unfortunately not

Re: Your preferred size for a Star Base miniature?
Oh yes planets being out of scale with the miniatures is really a big part of the issue here. I know the base is a static ship and all but being put on the table at game start and not moving, it feels more like a terrain piece for me than a ship. So it is terrain that I would want to visually balanc...

Re: News on A Call to Arms: Star Fleet!
One thing that leapt out from SVC's replies there.... His comment of making sensor dishes and selling them for scouts rather than making whole models. I do not know if that was meant to be a throwaway idea or not but it seems ot have some merit. Is there a set of standard conversion items that could...

Re: Your preferred size for a Star Base miniature?
Its going to be out of sync so I'd prefer to keep it under 3" diameter. I know that doesnt fit with the vessels, so I'd go for 1/10 scale and put it about 2.8" as a maximum size. I'd suggest a fixed size for all bases actually - and just differentiate them by modules and shape. Since they scale is g...

Re: Acta:SF Drone Question seeking ignore shields yes or no
Same thing in our group. We always make it a point to announce to the opponent that we are "center-lining" this ship. It takes all of 2 seconds and can save several minutes of debate and discussion later on. QFT..... Its too easy to bump a table, or ruch up a cloth or any of the so many things that...

Re: Question in Regards to Planetary/Static Defenses
Planetary defences in SFB were simply SSDs for small ships that didnt move and had a limited fire arc. How you do the arc is the most difficult point there. Satellite defences were very small bases that sat in space. You could convert from the SFB source material easily enough, or simply invent a fe...

Re: Dumb question about ACTA:SF and Drones + Plasmas
The sheer number of drones in SFB at least is limited by the number of drone control channels, which is 6 for most ships, more for double control drone. THe adaptation of Drones to direct fire weapons and abstracting the launch/fly/reload cycles out of the game meant that your wall of drones or hold...

Re: [ACTA:SF] Take Evasive Action vs Ship Adrift
Fair enough, Im in the minority - just for me the prohibition on All Movement pretty explicitly precluded eligibility to be nominated for movement (on the basis how can you be permitted to nominate it for movement, if movement is explicitly non-permitted, the two just don't separate as written in my...

Re: [ACTA:SF] Take Evasive Action vs Ship Adrift
Its pretty well defined really - Running Adrift ships may not move at all - therefore take no part in the Movement Phase, also by definition means they cannot be nominated to move, therefore since they cannot meet the criteria to do a special action - which is being nominated to move - which can ne...

Re: VaS at different scale?
VaS is a point to point system, so really so long as the point is defined on the ship then scale should theoretically make little mechanical difference. The only issue will be practical ones of ships having space to move, of overcrowding and a ground to model scale disconnect if the change is too bi...

Re: Request for the next edition of the rulebook
Civilian ships are a bit of a mishmash at the moment because of the old cargo boxes issue making them way to hard and then being dialled back a LOT. They really are extras to the system and not for general use. If a full supplement comes in then possibly a different critical table is needed. This wi...

Re: Restrictions of the Federation "G-Rack" in ACTA.
I can live with some of the restrictions on Combined Drone racks, but the one that gets me irritated is the inability to use it while selecting "Phasers Only" while under Power Drain restrictions. The racks require little to no power to use, and as such I think that they should be functional even u...

Re: Several questions
The SF A Call to Arms rules are based on an existing game engine that has been used for WWI, WWII, Noble Armada SciFi and Babylon 5 SciFi - so there is a lot of existing rules text about for different situations. Since Scout as a trait existed in those games and Scouts exist in the SFU then then the...

Re: What items do you all use to enhance game appearance?
I am a big fan of Litko markers. I'd love to get hold of them, but trying to find a UK distributor who has a reasonable stock and reliable stock from them is a bit awkward (ideas and suggestions happily accepted). Trying to get hold of the company by email proved fruitless, but I got a direct answe...
