Re: Issue with the movement modifier

I used to use the movement rules from Twilight 2000 2nd edition. written by mostly same guys. Also, there is the idea of is the target crossing line of fire, or just running toward / away? Not saying to go into those intricacies, but those are real world factors, especially for vehicles. And the clo...

Re: Starport / Planetary TL mismatch

I do not use the Imperium as a setting, and never have. From world generation since the early days, The Tech level of the world has been modified by the presence of a Starport, but it often turns out that if you use the rules straight, even since the early days, worlds that are Earthlike are relativ...

Re: RPG Suite

I am a Traveller fanatic, since 1977. I downloaded this, and it runs great. I bought the core pack for the 39.00 or whatever it was. Customer support is excellent. Emails within a few hours. Very polite and to the point resppnses. Downloads are fast, even from Thailand (Where I am retired). I have y...

Re: Thought on the damage system

I'm opposed to changes like this on principle. Playing D&D, I can accept it is fantasy, fight till dead, there's magic. People say they don't like Traveller's injuries on stats, because it forms a "death spiral." It feels "real" to me, even if it isn't "realistic." Too many players of I wade into th...

Re: Detailed World and System Generation

Since the numbers are all about the same, i'd look for old copies of Original Traveller book 6 scouts, and Digest Group Grand Survey.

Look for Leroy Guatney's pages also on revised scouts.

Re: Supplement 11: Animal Encounters Issues

"you can't create that creature using the rules in the book!" Suggestion: You know what you want. It's your campaign. Pitch the book, and make 1000 ton land-slithering polka dotted piranhas that breathe oatmeal if you like. If you want it to be Earth-Realistic, read a whole lot for a month of overv...

Re: Ideas For A new Campaign Needed - Please Help

Here's the straight deal from a ref who has been running Traveller since 1977. You need to decide if this is a character-based game whom the plot surrounds, or a plot based game which the character inhabits. It could of course be a mix of both. Right off you have as the PC: Retired Vet Ship Scout me...

Re: Recommend a one shot

I'm personally a big fan of a through study of, adapting, then running Across the Bright Face by GDW It's not really mystery, nore action/Chase/Survival with Timeclock, and few Options. It can be run for completely new players to traveller because it doesn't involve calculating orbits, re-entry, non...

Re: Turrets. particularly pictues of - a request.

Not to tread on toes here, but Make it up, it's your game, none of this exists. I base all of my stuff on what I saw in the navy, but my truth is going to be relatively to a lot different to any / every other traveller referee. When people asked Jordan Weisman what was the deal on the Battletech Mar...

43, started refereeing in 1977, at age 11, after just having seen Star Wars that summer.

Traveller was my first RPG, before I met Gamma World in 1978, and THEN AD&D in 1979.

Well, the thing is, if you can't get to medical help, you'll bleed out. If I'm reading the rules correctly, you got one shot at medical first aid , until you get to a sickbay. if thattakes longer than a day, you're gonna lose points, since your endurance is gone to 0, with the -2 mod. I'm guessing i...

Yeah really, it's a question of scope. If all the players goals are is to retire with MCr 1 Mil, hey, capture a ship and retire the PC. Fine. But a PC that wants to run an army, form a shipping corp, become a wealthy merchant price / Sustain the power as a noble, will need a lot of credits. If the p...

If you can find it, these were written up in a decent bit of detail in DGP's Grand Census. Around 40.00 (sometimes less) on Ebay. There's one guy selling it for insane like 250.00 prices. I liken sensors to modern day sensors as on a modern warship. You can get a passive bearing or go active and get...
