Re: Skills ans specialities in Traveller Starter Set

Thanks for the info :) How does it work with training a speciality in a skill, when I already have ranks in a different speciality of the same skill? Let's say I have gun combat (slug) 2, meaning I have automatically gun combat (energy) 0. If I train for a new rank in a skill the rules state, it co...

Is this (http://www.classicempire.com/) the Empire of which you speak? I spent more than a few hours playing that one!
Have it sitting on the shelf myself, also have Empire Deluxe.

Re: Skills ans specialities in Traveller Starter Set

Yes, with most that have multiple options you get them at rank 0, if you have a skill at rank 1+ you put that in a particular area, and are considered to have the other areas at rank 0. Trade is an exception where you don't automatically get the rest at rank 0.

Re: Battle Riders

The particle spinal taps out at 10DD, while the railgun taps out at 7DD with ammo limitations and both are reduced by armor before applying the destructive trait. Not useless though. And no one can afford to not have meson screens as the meson ignores armor below Molecular Bonded (tl16+) and tops o...

500 Screens
Wow, that makes spinal weapons useless as every 5 screens reduce 1dd with max at 24DD only need 120 screens.
Screens don't protect against particle or railgun spinal mounts.

Re: Seeking infos about alien species, the 3rd Empire and other empires/federations

I'm very new to Traveller. Actually stumbled over this fine RPG two weeks ago with the Starter Set. Regarding Setting informations and aliens it refers to some Traveller Companion which is obviously not existant. Is there any other source or book giving me deeper insight into races and cultures of ...

To change the system you would need to change the price of ships or the speed of travel.
Alternately, changing the speed of communication could have an effect as well.

Re: Forbidden Planets

Should be interesting how the expanded world generator in the Great Reft kickstarter addresses system building. Will they follow something similar to T5 with bigworlds, mainworlds up to size 15 and a variety of gas giants including brown dwarves? Nebulas, proto-stars and black holes will change the...

Re: Great Rift Box Set Kickstarter - July 6th

I recently bought the 3rd Imperium books - Reft Sector and Deneb Sector. How much of these are recycled into this product and will the new box set offer anything new over and above these existing books? There's certainly some of Reft Sector in their, but there's a lot of entirely new material as we...

Re: The Close Escort: not viable?

I'm unable to check the rules so bear with me on this, re batteries for jump drive, I guess this is open to interpretation but I read it as taking 1d6 turns to instigate a jump. Battieries are listed as discharging in one turn. Are you installing batteries for 6 rounds times your jump drives power ...

High Guard 2e lists bridge price as
The cost of any bridge is MCr0.5 per 100 tons (or part
of) of the ship it is installed within.
Is that overall ship tonnage or the bridge itself?
This applies to the ship tonnage.

So does Expedition to Zhodane.

None of those are peculiar to a beanstalk, though. You could do any of them on a variety of locations, and the only one where you might actually interact with the specific characteristics of a beanstalk is the first. However, in the first example, you've also just described the plot of nearly every...
