The rules are vague - hence the need for clarification, nor do they conform to previous canon. [/quote] The upgrade is from a fixed m...

Re: Ship Design Philosophy

In which case that needs clarification in the next version of High Guard since the design sequence says you can upgrade to turret, not to mention it makes installing a turret a pointless waste of money. Ships of less than 100 tons have Firmpoints instead of Hardpoints. A weapon on a Firmpoint may n...

Re: Ship Design Philosophy

The current edition has three primary changes: 1. Smallcraft weapon systems have drastically curtailed ranges. Only if you use fixed mounts - use a turret or barbette and get normal range, or use missiles or torpedoes. Smallcraft weapons are mounted on firmpoints, even if in a turret or barbette an...

Droyne Character Creation Checklist Before creating a Droyne character, review the Caste rules below. Droyne character creation uses the following steps: 1. Roll characteristics (1d6) for Strength, Dexterity, Endurance, Intelligence and Sense; determine characteristic modifiers. Initial Caste is 0 ...

Gravity: It is possible to alter the artificial gravity on board. Reducing gravity to zero will limit actions to the level of an attacker’s Athletics (dexterity) skill (see Zero Gravity on page 77). Gravity can also safely be increased up to 3G with an Engineer (computers) check, which will count a...

The amount of common area from the stateroom tonnage hasn't changed, but there is now a separate common area to add additional space.

Each map square is five dtons of space. What dimensions does each square equate to if I want to map the areas in greater detail?
Deck plans for smaller ships are usually 1 dton = 2 spaces. (1.5m per square)

Either way, you managed to squeeze in nearly every item from the deep space explorer’s handbook, impressive! And the way it utilizes breakaway sections, creative!
Was modified to include breakaway sections to get around a limit of the original design.

Re: House Rules: Additional Jump Drives

One I particularly liked that you don't mention, works with the old LBB system, but not HG. Double Drives: You can mount more than one drive (different drive letters) and combine their effect (maximum is still 6). This gives you an installed spare basically and was used in the Annic Nova adventure....

Re: More Broadsword

While the Broadsword is full of questionable design choices, the one that always got me the most was giving staterooms to all the soldiers. Low berths would make a great deal more sense with their reduced life support and tonnage per soldier transported. With staterooms (or barracks) the soldiers c...

Re: The Close Escort: not viable?

The Gazelle got a nice weapon upgrade in the conversion to 2nd edition, but they turned it into a tin can by dropping the armor from 8 points to only 3. I do not understand the reason for that drastic reduction unless it was to guarantee that a Gazelle "invariably suffered disproportionate losses"....

My suggestion is to move command bridge from accessories to the bridge section
The one under bridge is for the ships bridge, the command bridge (although a command bridge can) doesn't replace that in this case so isn't listed under bridge.

Let's scale down from the Death Star to something more manageable, the Tigress superdreadnought.

It has only one bridge, but with holographic controls.
The Tigress has a bridge plus a separate Command Bridge.

Re: Low tech ships - Need help

Pearl Harbour failed, to an extent, because the planners were too focused on killing battleships. Had they destroyed the fleet train, drydocks, fuel storage and other REMF-specific areas they would have crippled the pacific fleet. But the planners were all old-school and though big guns = big impor...
