Note that applies to ships of up to 25,000 tons.

Thanks for sharing, Shammond42. That's pretty sweet. Proof that your starship looking awesome and looking like a vacuum cleaner are not mutually exclusive. Re: Backup Ship Computers

MgT, in contrast, only allows two computers. The cost to install one is negligible, but what is are the mechanical advantages in MgT of having a second onboard computer? The second computer is there for backup if there is a hit to the main computer or other trouble (perhaps some rogue snuck aboard ...

So today I fired a 12" railway gun at a landed Free Trader. Just by way of an experiment.
What where the results of the experiment?

You can use whatever you want. But there was never any intention of relating to anything else. Just something that would work within the game.

Requires skill: Seafarer.
Maybe not, just need to go in and retrieve, don't need to operate the boat.

Might need Heavy Weapons and/or Explosives though to clear the way to the container.

Re: Travellers Needed - Missiles (check our numbers)

Is a discussion of what is and is not available to a tramp trader in terms of weapons something that should be added to the book? I know that each GM can change things to suit their game, but for baseline concepts, where is the line drawn? No nukes? but ortillery capacity is ok? Another thread on t...

I'm not proposing that the UNREP has cars and holds a dozen people -- I think the transport system that runs down the spine of the ship might do that.
LIke the original Batlestar Gallactica, during alerts the warriors can be seen riding one on occasion.

Re: Imperial view of Cybernetics

The issue with cybernetics within a Traveller game is that, unlike cyberpunk games in which cybernetic enhancements are a core part of the game, Traveller imposes no penalties, only benefits, for augmentation. An extreme social prejudice against augmentation is one way to mitigate this. The Mongoos...

Some dead stars may harbor enough uranium to set off a thermonuclear bomb

A thermonuclear bomb might be ticking deep in the cores of some dead stars. A new theoretical study traces out how certain stellar corpses known as white dwarfs could accumulate a critical mass of uranium that would trigger a massive supernova explosion. https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2021/03/some...

Re: Shipyard Maintenance

Mixed bag of comments: In one of Elizabeth Moon's Familias Regnant novels, one of the main characters ends up on a "ship" which is basically a mobile space station. Mobility of an elephant, dedicated escort force, expensive as heck, capable of nearly rebuilding ships from scratch - probably could b...

Re: Shipyard Maintenance

I also thought the space station chapter in High Guard was quite redundant, except for the specific station items. But, all craft in space are space craft. I wouldn't mind a revised HG with those pages containing all the other shipbuilding items used in other sources. I've suggested consolidating t...

Re: Shipyard Maintenance

For the record: I do not understand, why space stations are treated in any way different than ships, when in fact they are just space vessels with different rules for bridges (mainly: cheaper and smaller) and a couple of extra options of what to install (shipyards, residential zones, manufacturing ...
