Re: Far Trader design in 2E?

Good info, guys :)
I figured I can probably crib the plans from the old MgT if I need them before High Guard.

Far Trader design in 2E?

So, in 2E the included design for the Jump 2 Far Trader seems to be just a tweaked Beowulf. Thoughts on that? It seems like They've thrown out a pretty classic ship design.

Re: Battle Dress

I kind of agree with the "high cost, low value" sentiment in regards to mongoose's version of battle dress. A protection value of 18, while formidable, seems far too low for the traditional notion of battle dress. I did a sample roll representing firing and entire clip from a gauss rifle using the f...

Far Trader: The Update

So, I know it's been coming up on a year since I released the trailer to Far Trader, but work has been proceeding and I thought it would be appropriate to provide a quick update to interested parties. We're still working on the script and storyboards for the actual web series. The first series will ...

Its a good start, especially since it appears to be a home built project. However the demonstration range was maybe 3m and nothing was said about how many shots the battery could power. I think it'll take a TL or two to get the requisite energy density in the battery to produce a decent range and a...

Getting into the realm of opinion here, but I had a similar thing happen in our group with mgt. My players all decided to game the system and play elderly characters in order to get the extra skills and benefit rolls, so we ended up with a group of characters in their late 50's/60's. They made a hal...

My comment was not a criticism but a compliment since weapons in Battlestar Galactica were all too familiar looking. So, good job on that front, too! There's a lot of cool options out there for carbines and long guns, but the gauss pistol is something I really need to get right, and I don't feel li...

What you used for weapons? I was glad to see that not (all) were modern day firearms/replicas/soft-air weapons like in the latest BSG! At least the most familiar models that everyone could recognize. I tried to stick to airsoft guns that were cheap and look futuristic. My options were limited and I...

Thanks for posting the link, mind if I share it? ...heh, never mind, I see you're doing that :) Feel free to pass it around as much as you like! Hope this goes forward, it looks promising, and definitely seems to catch that "Traveller" feeling in this short trailer. I consider that to be quite a co...

Far Trader: The trailer

So, I've hinted a couple times at a fan film I'm working on. Here's a youtube link to a trailer we just finished: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7vDOm6iOcM We entered a prior version of this in a local competition- we didn't win, but there was lots of positive feedback. CG was done by the esteemed ...

You might look into glass enameling- I'm not sure how expensive it is to get into, but it's what first comes to mind for the project you're describing.

I can do better than that very soon- I've got production stills, props, and pre-viz sequences "in the can". We're entering a trailer in a local film competition next week.

I want to make sure I've got product that doesn't suck before introducing it to the Traveller community.

If I recall, the original uniform colors for the navy are black with gold trim, so yeah- I was thinking about having the wife cover sew some piping in to cover the existing seams so it can reflect that color scheme. The collar on the thing is perfect for rank/division pins And making epaulets would ...

I would suggest something embroidered for fatigues.

I think in general, the military would avoid using pins and go with some sort of two-piece magnetic arrangement.

So, per my earlier reply-
I ordered one of the Youstars jacket from eBay for one of the actors in the fan film I'm working on, here it is on him:

We're going to dress it a little more, some insignia and patches and stuff.

Re: Newb questions (skill increase, campaign musings)

3) As I look at the traveller map site and ponder all the Canon that has come out over the years, I'm feeling a little overwhelmed. No need for this. You bought the game, it is yours to do with as you plea- se. If you have a problem with any part of "canon", you can modify, re- place or delete it a...

Regarding your last point: I generally tell my PC's that planetary profiles (especially in the less-travelled areas) aren't updated as often as they are along the more central trade routes, even to the tune of a few years between updates. This is an in-game justification for using law level, governm...
