Re: Mass Effect and Borderlands suggestions?

For Mass Effect biotics, I would add those implant devices, and have them provide some Psy points. Give implants a short recharge time, probably just a few minutes. Or if you prefer, take a full round action to recharge them. Whichever feels better to you. Shields are not difficult either - just rat...

Re: Why Sindal?

You could view the necessity of J-2 as a "level up" opportunity. Put the players in one of the clusters, and they can't get out without upgrading their ship.
Or if they don't have a ship, finding a ship that can and will leave the cluster.

Re: Bwaps

Search for "Newts". "Bwap" is a slang term, probably racist, used by Imperials.
They call themselves "Bawapakerwa-a-a-awapawab"

Re: Spinward Marches 1: The Bowman Arm

Wasn't this released previously for T20? And it's written by Martin Dougherty? Does this mean more MJD re-releases are coming? Comparing the RPGNow preview with my copy of the T20 materials, they are nearly identical, content-wise, though the formatting is completely different. The few pages that h...

Add to that list General Quarters, an excellently simple game with a lot of leg and a TON of ships rated for it.

It sort of looks like the errata version is an edit of a version that was older than the released version.

Re: June 2016 - Errata

The only significant changes appear to be in adding Hull numbers for the small craft, and some changes to Vehicle weapons damage. The rest are missing words, minor rephrases, rescaling a few pictures, etc. The Hull points were what you'd expect them to be, but the Vehicle Weapons Damage table came a...

Nifty!

Q: will there still be a coupon for folks who bought the playtest? Or did that coupon get used up if you downloaded the final PDF?

Page 106, the Software Table. The descriptions of Agent and Intellect canoot both be right. Agent says it effectively specialized combinations of Computer Expert and Intellect programs. Intellect says it is improved Agents. How can both be true? "Specialized" does not mean better. Agent is speciali...

Re: New Defense System 'Sand Screen"

I'd say it's a sane idea - that's how sandcasters actually worked in the first edition of the game.
Well not including the "grav" part. If you maneuvered, you left the cloud. Though under that version, the cloud stayed on the "map", so it might still be between you and your opponent.

Re: Taveller. Just what is it?

Well, the current (first) edition of Mongoose Traveller is a full game with only the core rule book. Also, you can still get "The Traveller Book" printed from RPGNow!, which is pretty much the same as the Mongoose version in terms of scope, but using the "classic" edition of the rules from back in t...

Maybe an analogy will do:

Traveller is to the games your used to as Dungeons and Dragons is to Warhammer or "De Bellis Antiquitatis".

Re: Grav plates/Intertial compensators

I've always assumed that since a "grav drive" is by definition warping space, that the effective "thrust" that happens to the ship cannot be felt inside the hull, so from the interior frame of reference, the ship is in "Free fall" when under power. Effectively, they are self-inertia compensating, bu...

Re: Meson weapon description clarification

So perhaps that needs to be the approach then Matt. A Meson screen will remove the radiation trait from the meson weapon - regardless of how many screens. That seems eminently sensible. The screen (traditionally) works by modifying mesons' velocities, which when successful, makes them decay outside...

Re: Meson weapon description clarification

The fiction of Meson weaponry is that the particles don't interact with normal matter until they decay, which they do inside the hull of the target.
So they bypass armor, rad shielding, etc. The only thing that stops them is the appropriate screen. If you don't have that screen, your ship is doomed.
